This is a great site to check to see what power level your local digital channels are transmitting at.

This is what I got from this site. not sure what it means.

KTXH 19 DT LIC HOUSTON TX US BLCDT-20020514AAE - 51569 421. kW DA 596. m 614.8 m 592. m N 29 33 44.00 W 95 30 35.00 1059622 FOX TELEVISION STATIONS, INC.

Did you only paste the info for the stations that you are having trouble with, or did you do a different search than I did? My search returned 10 results.

Anyway, KTXH is broadcasting at 421 kW which is a lot lower than full power but is a lot higher than some digital channels are currently at. I don't know at what power level it is considered to be full power.

The second listing you pasted is for your analog local I believe, did you choose digital only when you ran your search?

I just pasted the one I was having problems with. I didn't think i needed to post all 36 Records. I am only trying to connect to the digital broadcast.

From what I can tell from this report is that I can connect to other digital broadcasts the same distance away that have lower power levels. So what does this tell me. I dunno!!!

My highest local is at 5000kw and the lowest one that I can connect to is 100kw. Most are around 300-400kw

Make sure when you are selecting your search options that you select digital. I think that you are looking at results for analog channels which seem to have a higher power level.

I lived in the Champions area for 3 years during the beginnings of the HD era in Houston, and I initially experienced some reception issues with the locals as well. My Terk just could not do the job, and I changed to a preamp indoor antenna setup that worked just great on my 6000.

As you know, all of the local antennas are located in one antenna farm in south Houston just outside of the Beltway. You are a bit further than I was, but not by much.

While I don't have a 942 as of yet I cannot verify your lack of reception from my present location in West Houston, but based upon my previous experiences with this issue from near your location, I would be willing to bet that the "right" antenna setup will be the answer for you and your 942.

OTA & the 942

I've been having the same problem with my 942. ABC is basically not watchable. I think it only has 75-85 signal strength, where my Voom stb was at like 97. All my other ota channels are at only at 85 vs. 97 on voom. I still have my ota sharing the same line as the voom sat signal via diplexers. I'm thinking, once voom goes dead I'll just ditch the diplexers and hopefully my signal strength will increase. If not, I may need to amplify the OTA??????

I've tried both the Terk and the Silver Sensor. I'm thinking about ordering the double bow tie from radio shack. Don't want to get a roof or attic antenna until i know I will be able to get the channels with the 942.

Ok now here is something weird. Come home today, its raining, clouds in sky. Hmm...think reception would be bad, so I check my locals and they are pretty good and clear. Think to myself what the heck, let me check again and see if I could get UPN. And guess what. I get a connection at 98-99 signal strength!! Now I didn't touch my antenna and did nothing but today I get connected. seems kinda fishy to me. I had the same problem with ABC. At first it would connect to channel 67 for some reason. this makes me think its the receiver.
