942 replacement

If I go ahead and lease the 942 from Dish, will they swap my 942 for the MPEG-4 HD-DVR model for free, or have they not said anything about this.

That's the million dollar (maybe a lot more) question. I would love to get the 942 and ditch my 508 and replace my 921 but I do not know if I will have to buy a new receiver in nine months

I would like the 942 too but no way the wife will let me shell out several hundred bucks again. I got a 921 back in November.

I wonder same thing. This past Monday I talked to a Dish "advanced tech" and he told me 942 would be up-gradable with a software update. Can anyone confirm this or was he just blowing hot air?

I also talked with the "advanced tech" group and was assured that the 921 was mpeg4 upgradable. I was told that mpeg4 was in consideration while the 921 was under development.
