Just read that WKDH in Houston/Tupelo Mississippi signing off at end of month

djournal.com - ABC affiliate to go off air

ABC affiliate WKDH will stop broadcasting at the end of the month, but it’s unclear – for now – how area viewers will get ABC programming.
The station is operated by Southern Broadcasting through an operating agreement with WTVA, the NBC affiliate in Tupelo.
WKDH has been broadcasting since 2001.

Its carried on both satellite companies so they will be able to import a nearby affiliate (probably Memphis)

Been in contact with both the station and DISH this week, and problem is, everyone is waiting on the other to do something. WKDH says its not their responsibility and DISH says they haven't been notified....UGH

technically Dish cant do anything until it physically ceases to exist. Dish can't import any station unless its missing that network affiliation. So until there is no ABC in that market Dish can't do anything

What's Houston got to do with it?

thats the town where the city of license is. Houston Mississippi ;)

WKDH is the ABC-affiliated television station for Northern Mississippi and Northwestern Alabama licensed to Houston, Mississippi.

Hence the / in my post. Tupelo is the bigger town that folks would know but its licensed to that town.

looking at the spotbeam maps these cities are on the same spotbeam
Memphis
Nashville
Columbus
Greenwood

Since Greenwood isnt in HD they (Dish) will probably give you ABC from Memphis ( I noticed cable in Tupelo has WMC from Memphis already)

While normally I would agree with that when it comes to Dish the mighty spotbeam takes over SV.

2 great examples of that (well one for sure the other falls under the WTF category)
Jackson, TN (out buddy gpollack's area)....no NBC. Directv gives them WMC from Memphis which is SV according to the FCC. Dish gives them Padukah, KY??? (they're all on same spotbeam..Memphis, Jackson and Padukah)
Glendive, MT...no ABC or Fox. Cable gives them Billings, MT. DIrectv has no presence there. Dish gives them KOTA and KEVN from Rapid City, SD???? Simple answer...spotbeam covers it..Billings one doesn't.

Looks like DIRECTV has made up their mind of who to substitute....Now if we can only hear from DISH!

Spent over an hour on the phone with DISH this evening. After three representatives finally got a lady who looked up the website at WKDH.com and read the notice that the station was going off air. She seemed genuinely suprised as she contact the Escalations team. Was advised that they were just now hearing about it and would be working dilligently to provide a solution to local DISH customers....Sounded a little canned, but hoping for the best. 6 days left.
