I've got an old CM 4228 antenna which I need to do some work on...weather has taken its toll. It's still good though. I got a 91XG and installed it today. I was hoping that with my Channel Master preamp it might pull in a few more stations. I really couldn't tell a difference. I added one analog station channel 40 a low power from Dayton Ohio. Dayton and Cincinnati are within 30-35 miles. I was hoping to pull in Columbus Ohio at 77 miles away. No luck. I can do it in the summer when the tropo conditions are right...usually morning. So rule of thumb with even the best antenna figure a 50-60 mile range..Claims of more than that aren't typical. In the old analog days a few of the analogs from Columbus would lock in on a regular basis regardless of the weather. Back in the old days 8 miles up the road from me was considered fringe for Columbus too. We all know how digital is though. Now since the weather is getting cold after today, I guess I'll wait til spring to install the new rotator. Old one is about ten years old and seen better days too. Guess I'll wait for the skip conditions in the summer.

Does anyone know if Winegard makes good antennas?
