Sorry to be a noob here, but I searched the forums and couldn't quite get the right answer...

My parents have Dish Network, using the standard Dish 311 receiver...

They want to add another tv in another room to the setup but aren't sure what's the best route to go. I have never had sat tv either so I'm kinda unsure myself.

From what I've seen you cannot split the signal to another tv and receiver like you can with regular cable tv.

So then I looked at different receivers, and saw with the Dish 322 receiver you can connect up to two tvs in different rooms.

Is my solution to just change the 311 to the 322 and then hookup the tv's?

thx in advance for the help

Depending on your LNB/switch arrangement, it may be more than just a matter of swapping out receivers if you change out to a 322 from a 311. Chances are you will also need to run another feed line to the 322.

I would go with the 2 - #311 receivers.
If one gives you problems you still have the other receiver to watch.
A #311 receiver is $99.
A #322 receiver is $150.
They probably will have to run a cable from the dish to the second reciever if the initial install was done the way I think it was done.
