On Friday I am scheduled for a free dish install to receive a Spanish local station that I think is on 148 (Santa Barbara CA locals). A couple of questions arise based on the following existing equipment: Quad dishpro lnb on dish500 feeding an 811, a 522, and using a DP34, a 322.

1. is it likely that Dish will install a dish 300 for the additional local channel?
2. Will they have to install a DPP44 for this to work? I don't care if the 322 gets input from the 148 satellite.
3. Could the new dish accidentaly slip out of position to receive HD channels on 129?

Thanks for any replies

1. probably
2. they'll use the DP34 3rd input
3. if you slip the guy some money or do it yourself :)

So will this work?

quad: 2 feeds to DP 34, other 2 direct to 522
d300: 1 (or do I need 2) feed (s) to DP-34
DP34: 2 feeds to 322, 1 to 811

For 148 most likely they'll use a D500 with DP Dual. At least that's what they did in my setup here in the Bay Area.

You will only need on feed from 148 to the DP34. You won't get 148 or 129 whichever you want for the 522 receiver.

They do use a D500 with DP Dual, at least that's what they did here too hehe.

What you can do is get one of these, plug it into the 2nd output on the dual, and plug those 2 outputs into 2 DP21s. Now, plug the 2 outputs from the quad into the 2 DP21s, and 1 line from each DP21 goes to the 322.

Congratulations, you have a redneck 5 receiver setup! It'd cost $65ish, but might still be less than another DP34 heh, honestly compare the prices between the two, not to mention this one would be a little wonky.

Otherwise, you can just run the lines from the quad to the 322. You could also just use *one* DP21 to the 322, but then you'd only have 148 on one of the inputs.

Of course, since 129 doesn't really carry anything of interest except voom and that one channel, none of this really matters anyway... in which case, yeah, the 322 directly hooked to the quad would do fine. Just remember to have ground blocks between the dishes and your receivers!

If they install a DP Dual for the second dish all you need is a DP21.

Run 2 lines from the Quad and 1 from the Dual to the DP34 and feed the 322 and the 522 off the DP34.
Run 1 line from the Quad and 1 from the Dual to the DP21 and feed the 811.

OMG. Geez, why didn't I think about that one? That's ingenious and it'd work great.

*feels like a real idiot now* lol part of life huh?
