AGC vs SNR (dB / %)

I am trying to understand AGC versus SNR readings. I mostly use the Edision Mio+ receiver. I have two dishes as follows:
  1. A 1.2m motorized dish with GSP SL1PLL LNB.
  2. A 1m fixed dish with GSP SL2 bullet LNB (non-PLL) and 4-port diseqc switch.
For an example transponder, I am watching 103W Ku NBC West. I am getting the following readings.
  1. SNR: 11.6 dB or 78%; AGC: 63%
  2. SNR: 10.9 dB or 71%; AGC: 100%
I'm curious why when using the same receiver I get a significantly higher AGC reading from the two different dishes. And the AGC reading is lower from the larger dish with the higher SNR value. Is this just an example of stronger isn't necessarily better but stronger with respect to received noise (signal-to-noise) is most important?
