Alternative to the phone line

Here's an alternative way to have the DTivo make it's calls using your existing broadband connection.

This uses the DTivo's serial port to connect to your computer to get to the internet, using a PPP connection.

I just wanted to say that this method works!! It works quite well actually. It connects to the computer at 115Kbps and is done in a matter of seconds with it's updates.

It will work with any of the DTivos that has the stereo jack "serial" port on the back, the HR10-250 included.

I can't get this to work on my HD-Tivo. It connects to the computer but fails while negotiating.

Did you put in (,#211) in your dialing prefix?

Also, did you do the slight file modification to one .ini that you have to do?

Thanks anyway but I figured it out. I had to put in an IP address even though I have a router.
