While running, a step forward is 30 sec and back is 10 sec on 622 (8 sec on 921). It used to be that from pause step forward was 1 frame and back was 2 sec. For the last month or more the jumps are OK until you go to play. You may jump backward up to 2 minutes or more before where it was. If you only jump forward (and possibly only backward) you get what you expect but mix them and look out.
Is this related to Dish's attempt to backup a part of a second on pressing play from fast forward (even at 300X) as some had requested a year ago to make up for your reflex time?
Certainly the transitions are less smooth. Some might be attributed to HD MPEG-4 and finding a key frame but not all.
