Blu-Ray Releases for Jan. 20th

I don't know if I will label any "must see", but I kinda want to see The Express.

Here's a list of all the titles released tomorrow....

Promised the GF I'd rent The Notebook, which I've never seen, if it ever came out on Blu-ray (thinking it never would). Damn these back catalogue titles the studios keep pumping out. Better not tell her 13 Going on 30 is available in BD as well. ;)

BTW, Domino is worth a rental if anyone hasn't seen it. Nice to see Kiera Knightly in clothes that aren't from the 18th-19th century!

Better not tell her Brokeback Mountain is coming out on BD either. ;)

Looking forward to a review of Groundhog Day; in terms of PQ and sound. Its one of those films I can watch over and over, but I am curious how it comes out in BD.

I'm going to pick it up. My current copy is on laserdisc, so it will be an improvement, no matter what. :)

Sorry, I can't recommend it.

The film was shot fairly soft focus, so although the transfer is reasonable, it really doesn't look much better than the DVD. I never noticed anything in video detail or quality that popped out. Colors are muted, although I think that is intentional.

It advertises TrueHD audio, and the dialog is clear. However, the only action from the rear speakers is during the crowd scenes at the ceremony and at the party at the end. 90% is center channel only. Ambient is not generally expanded beyond the center channel. Music usually goes to a stereo mix and sounds good, but there really isn't that much background music in this film.

The supplements are presented in glorious SD stretchovision.

If you already have the 15th anniversary DVD, I don't think you will see any new value added here. If you don't have the anniversary edition, the supplements may be worth something, but wait for it to be on sale for $12.

On my way to Blockbuster after work in hopes of snagging this one: Zack and Miri Make a Porno

From what I've heard, it's supposed to be hysterical.
That would be my only probable for today... I would go for the Friday the 13th, but watched it last month from HDNet and Taxi Driver not that long ago also...
