Our estimated delivery date for Lanterns purchased during the original campaign was July 2015. As anyone in manufacturing can attest, estimates for product development are made with careful planning, but unforeseen events - both positive and negative - can delay the production of an intricate and complicated technical device.
In the case of Lantern, we have had opportunities to improve certain aspects of the design and components to deliver a better device. Last month we wrote this blog post about some of these changes. Since then, we have increased the solar panel to 2.5 watts for faster charging, and we increased the size of our antenna, for clearer, stronger reception. These improvements mean some delay in production from what we originally envisioned. With these changes, we are on track for delivery in October 2015.
