Right as the biggest players in entertainment are turning streaming into a viable business, there is growing concern that a wrench could be thrown into the entire sector: Consumers are grappling with rising prices everywhere they look, and there are signals that their willingness to keep paying more might be nearing a breaking point.

And yet, the article says nothing about the high prices of Cable/Satellite TV, which is a average of $120-140 a month, for less and less new content.

What is more likely to happen, people will drop their Live TV Service, in favor of the streaming services they need, which provide a better value, based on how much more new content they receive.

If Live TV subscribers prefer the rerun content, why pay for it, save the $$$, use Pluto TV.

Honestly as long as I have an antenna and a four tuner Tablo I am covered for anything I need a live TV service for. No monthly fees or price hikes either. Now the only other channels I need would be MSNOW, CNN (until they sell it) and my wife likes HGTV and Magnolia channels. The rest of the channels I don't really watch anymore. They have all become rerun channels. As for streaming services, I added Disney/Hulu and Paramount when it was on cheap at the end of the year. Netflix is the one streaming pack I share with my parents on my account and it is too damn high and going higher. I could save that money and use it for something else. But I don't watch sports at all, so I really can get by with less apps.

It's the "Verizon Effect." They'll continue to push it higher and higher until they start bleeding subscribers, then they'll act all surprised and add a new cheaper tier or scale it back.

One of Warren Buffett's favorite investments is Nebraska Furniture Mart, which has enormous locations in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Texas. Their founder was famous for saying "sell cheap and tell the truth." It seems like now the corporate motto is "sell expensive and lie." Streaming services seem to be no exception, unfortunately.

The Discovery ID channel isn't all reruns yet, if you like crime shows. Science ch. is now totally old shows.

The good thing about streaming is you can easily subscribe and unsubscribe to the services with a couple clicks. I don't know why someone would subscribe to multiple services at the same time, sign up for one and binge on all the content for a month or two, cancel and move on to the next service. YouTube is the only service that is a must have for me, I watch YT more than anything else.

Plenty of free services like Pluto for reruns, news and general content.
