I would just use the reflector and LNB support arms. I'm guessing the stock pole mounting bracket is too heavy, and wouldn't work well with a motor anyway.

If you search here for some of the pics where people have motorized Primestar dishes that should give you some good ideas.

Sadoun DG-380 and STAB120 are probably the 2 most HD motors available, or you might also consider putting that dish on a BUD polar or BUD H-to-H mount.

A Stab HH120 will turn it. I have a Type 123 dish with a STAB it is a little heavier then the 120 so you should be good. I don't think a DG-380 is the right type motor. You need one with the motor shaft point up. The Stab HH90 & HH120 are the only motors I know like that, & the HH90 is a little small. You will either need to buy the adapter rings or make them. Did it come with the LNB cone, & AZ/EL? What LNBF are you going to use?

You are correct, the stock mount is way too heavy, and would probably require some mods (likely with a plasma cutter ) to get it mounted on a DG-380 or similar.

Thanks for the motorized Primestar pointer, I'm off to do some reading.

Cheers!

Good to know!, I've got a working HH120 laying in the spare parts room at the moment.

Came with everything but the LNB cone, it was actually dead stock I bought from Bell (:)) intended for one of their northern subs that cancelled their order, so it came with a cheapie dual output circular.

I'm still researching out combo C/Ku and haven't settled on one yet, any suggestions? I've been leaning towards a BSC621-2 and scalar.

Cheers! thanks for the HH info & advice. :up

I bought a DMX741U with conical scaler ring. Honestly I had a lot of trouble getting the Ku adjusted right. I'm sure it was operator error, but I gave up. I wish I would have just bought the DMX241 with conical scaler ring. Did you notice this sale? http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-ai...00-satelliteguys-promotion-september-wsi.html Now I'm waiting for Satellite AV's 6' offset to come on sale:)

Nice price!
Seeing as this is my first mini-bud, I'm expecting to have lots of 'operator error', but it keeps me playing in the yard instead of sitting at the bar...and that's a good thing!

just another opinion:

The DMX741 seems quite good. See our review section for some positive comments.
However, getting Ku on those things even on a big dish, is quite an arduous tune-up task.
On miniBUDs, it's ... not a great plan. Some guys have gone to the use of separate Ku LNBs.
But, it's a good unit, and on a bigger dish, with careful adjustment, it's highly recommended.

What I'd suggest, is the C2 dual output C-band LNBF.
It's also well received, and has the added advantage of letting you run multiple receivers.

There have been plenty of discussions of all these points on the forum this year.
Ya might poke around and see what you find for comments. -
