Looking at the PDF the packages are not bad fot TV plus that fast of a net connection combined.

Yesterday Comcast announced it was launching its DOCSIS 3.1 fueled gigabit cable broadband service in five new markets this year: Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, and Miami. Today, AT&T announced rather uncoincidentally that it's expanding its own gigabit offerings into many of those same markets. According to AT&T's press release, the company's "Gigapower" service is being expanded into additional communities in and around Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Miami. Individual releases (pdf) break the launches down by community.

The difference being that Comcast's DOCSIS 3.1 upgrades should allow the cable giant to service the vast majority of those markets, while AT&T's fiber to the home initiative continues to target primarily housing developments and other areas like college campuses where fiber was already in the ground.

With the significantly lower cost and speed of DOCSIS 3.1 deployments, Comcast should have a notable edge in the gigabit race throughout 2016.

Of course Comcast could sabotage this advantage if the company prices its gigabit offering too high. Comcast has yet to indicate what its gigabit cable service will cost, but its existing two gigabit fiber to the home service remains well out of range of most buyers at $300 per month with $1000 in installation and activation fees. AT&T's Gigapower pricing meanwhile varies dramatically depending on local competition.

For example in Chicago AT&T's Gigapower service starts at $110 per month. But in Atlanta, where AT&T faces a looming Google Fiber build, the same exact service starts at $70 per month. Note that customers need to pay dramatically more if they want to opt out of AT&T's deep packet inspection snoopvertising. According to AT&T, its expansion into additional parts of Chicago, Miami, Dallas and Atlanta goes live today.
