I would not suggest replacing your receiver. I went through the same scenario. Dish replaced my 722 and the problem remained. In the process I lost my saved programming. I also had lots of stuff on my EHD but those were transferrable after contacting Dish (I believe there was a EHD identification issue).Recently, maybe around the time I was "upgraded to TurboHD", some, not all, of my recorded programs began having very annoying audio "clipping". I think it is mostly with programs on Fox & ABC. I mostly record in HD. We hardly ever watch these stations live.
I spoke with tech support and was told they would replace the receiver. I would say okay, but I've got a bunch of programming on the internal HD plus two 500GB EHDs with a lot more. Replacing the receiver means I'll have to spend tons of time saving the programming for use with the new receiver. And in my mind there's a good chance this problem is another software issue so the new receiver won't help.
Has anyone else begun experiencing audio problems with a 622/722 recently?
Thanks
On the other posts regarding defragmentation:
I'm certain that my problem with audio dropouts was not a defragmentation issue. The aforementioned replacemant 722 continued the dropout problem immediately, so the HDD certainly was not fragmented.
The only fix that I have found is not a fix at all. I have switched my viewing habits to CBS, though I prefer ABC. Some Dish customers have swithched to DirecTV. Again, these are not fixes but Dish should take notice and at least acknowledge the problem in a general way to alert both their customers and their support people that this is not a hardware issue and that it will be rectified. If it doesn't or can't be fixed, then I will switch providers also. Most of us using this high-end technology are video/audiophiles and this substandard technology will not be tolerated for much longer.
