Thanks in advance. Just spent an hour on chat with Dish VIP to accomplish nothing so hopefully someone here can help!

Symptoms:

TV 1 connected to DVR crystal clear sound and picture
TV 2 connected via coaxial cable from tv directly to splitter at satellite has fuzzy picture and audio sounds like high pitched morris code.

Screen 6 - 1 - 3 shows
A = good
D = VIP622 DVR
G = 119 green, 110 green, 129 green

Troubleshooting:
Have switched tv positions, problem stays with tv2 position. Connected a 3rd tv, at position one crystal clear, at position 2 fuzzy picture and sound. So it is not the TV

Replaced the coax cable running from TV2 to satelitte, no change

There are no other devices on this network, no old vcrs or any non-dish equipment.

I am an electrician so I have/can test equipment if I know what to test. I suspect it is a grounding issue, a bad splitter or some type of signal overload. If it was one of the two satellites or the dvr then there would be an issue at both locations, but it is exclusively at tv2

What are the grounding requirements?
How do I test the splitters?
Anything else anyone can shed on this issue, thank you thank you

TV 2 is not HD. It's standard Def for one thing,. Also, are you sure that's a splitter and not a diplexer? Splitter has 1 input and 2 outputs. Diplexer has one input labelled SAT. an output labelled In/Out, which needs to be a direct cable to your receiver and the other post is an output labelled UHF/VHF which goes to TV2'

You could have issues with that, the connectors may be allowing ingress if they're not compression fittings, loose connectors.. Grounding has nothing to do with it

Been a long time since I dealt with the old ViP receivers, but I seem to recall a few occasions where the TV2 would be fuzzy kinda like you describe, and I seem to remember being able to change the output channel for TV2 to a different channel number (i.e. the channel number you tune to at the second TV location), and finding that some channels would give a clear picture vs. the default output channel.

May or may not be your situation, but maybe worth a try.

Hello,

I hate to hear you are experiencing this issue on your TV2. I would suggest trying to change the TV2 output. You can do this by going to menu>system setup>installation>modulator setup. From here you can change the mode from air to cable and the TV2 Out channel. Its also possible its the coax port itself on the unit. If the problem please contact our technical support at: Request Rejected

I forgot that one lol. Using Cable 73 seems to work better than Air 60 on many TV's.
On the remote, 6 -1 -5 change from Air to Cable - it'll show 73 by default.,
Change TV 2 on the Channel settings from Air/Antenna to Cable.
Tune to Ch 73

This was all set up by the DISH tech 5 years ago and has worked fine until recently.

I am calling them splitters but you are correct there are two Holland DPD2 units and one unit labeled DISH Separator. The DISH chat tech verified the method of connection is correct. One DPD2 unit and the Separator are inside behind the DVR. The second DPD2 unit is outside at the satellite and TV2 coax cable runs directly to that DPD2 with no splices or other connectors, just a single solid cable from TV to DPD2

Does that help you any? Thx

The Dish chat tech had me change from Air - 60 to Cable - 116 and nothing changed. Below suggesting try 73, so I will try that when I get home. Thx

Yep, try cable 73 or a lower air channel. The higher frequencies are being sold off so another signal might have started using the channel you're on or one near it and it's causing interference.

If that's not it then it could be the modulator in the receiver going bad.
