Ok, I'm taking the plunge and ordering an Openbox S10 HD receiver this weekend. Where is the best place to order an Openbox S10 HD receiver?

I looked at Fr**** .com, but they install their own firmware which displays a website banner within the displays.

GoSatellite sells the S10, but displays the S9. This raises a flag.

EBay has several China and Hong Kong suppliers.

Popcorn,

You might want to think about the Manhattan expected to be released any day now. http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=75e6a59ec8cc421e360c4b7d2e7e5937&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.satelliteguys.us%2F255488-freedbs-3.html%23post2557184&v=1&libid=1309018456010&out=http%3A%2F%2Fglobal-cm.net%2F&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.satelliteguys.us%2Fsearch.php%3Fsearchid%3D632856&title=FreeDBS.....................&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fglobal-cm.net%2F
I sent Mike Kohl about differences in the manual specs vs. announced specs in a recent E-mailing from Manhattan. He answered back said the new box will have twice as much memory (4meg) and can hold 100 sat positions and 7000 channels. More than the beta boxes and any of the OpenBox models. Also has manual key in pids, clock and timer that works, and easy transfer of recorded files to a computer, so it is more than just a re-branded OpenBox.
I've got one on pre order and will post in here when I get it.
I know there has been a lot of chatter about all the delays, I'm hopeful the true reason is product refinement before release.
TAKE THE PLUNGE IN DEEP WATER! They are going for about $200

The new software for the S10 is supposed to have a working timer, but I only have an S9 so I can't verify it. Also, the new software for both S9 and S10 is supposed to record in transport stream format rather than their .dvr format.

Fyi.... All Ali chipsets have ability to record in either .ts or .dvr. It is up to the developer to turn on the switch for one or both formats. H264 and high bandwidth recording is much better using TS.

The delay was caused by a needed board change.. they will ship next week I'm told.

The Manhattan beta box works better than the S10 I ordered a few weeks ago. yikes..

Probably not a bad idea. I saw that Skyvision will have them available soon.

According to this the new Manhattan will only have 5,000 channel and 64 satellite position memory just like the Openbox S9 / 10:

Here is the Manhattan receiver manual. After looking at it I'm not impressed, especially by the graphics and will probably lean towards purchasing the Openbox S10 receiver instead.

My biggest issue so far has been the price that the Manhattan is being listed for which just seems high when looking at other models. Myself, I'm now going to wait until the AZbox ME comes out in August and then compare both models, spending another hundred dollars and getting a better unit is worth it.

The graphics have been improved from the S9, but they sure don't look like an S10. (Although that's not enough to make a purchase decision on, but the price would be.)

Hey, what's the Russian mux from 99 doing on 74 anyway? (See the pictures in the manual.)

I have an E-mailing from Mike Kohl on my office computer. The Manhattan has been improved since the manual was written, including graphics. I can C/P it in here tomorrow if interested.

why do they keep an old version user manual posted in their web page??? I went thru the manual and didnt see the manual PIDs entry section. Someone from other forum mentioned the same , this is an old copy, then if so why do they havent update the copy they already posted in their page??? Anyone is mentioning the fact that since the box will be from an US dealer it will have a better support than the Openbox. So, Manhattan should be alert and keep up to date , there is a lot of people keep in an eye for them.

I would love to see an updated manual. I'll delay the Openbox S10 purchase until the Manhattan is out, but would love to receive a new model receiver before the three day weekend coming up in order to perform some testing.

I have the Openbox S10 nice small receiver nice remote ,very good video fast blind scan .

Works fine on AMC 21 125W on the PBS HD channels and channels with AC-3 Audio.

By looking at the specks the Manhattan 1933 is just like the S10 .
