Is there a way of calculating the Dish 1000 pointing angles by user Lat/Long instead of the first three zip code values? I live in Washington State (98070) and the "980XX" area covers a lot of territory; same for 981XX, 982XX, 983XX, etc. The most important value is the skew as one can iteratively find the best azimuth and elevation. The suggested skew is 88 degrees but I have a stronger signal (with acceptable 110 and 119 reception) with 87 degrees.

I have tweaked and tweaked my Dish 1000 self installation and the best signal strengths I can get for the 129 satellite are listed below by transponder.

Ideally the pointing angles would be by Lat/Long and there would be a simple computer program one could use.

thanks in advance for anyone with a solution.

That is about as good as I can get in Southern Oregon. Dish says to nail the 119 and the 129 will be peaked. Can anyone explain how the 129 will peak when the Dish is focused on 119?

Seems like the only way to accurately nail all three birds is with two dishes???

It is meant that nailing 119, will make 129 be the best it can be (peaked) at your location. It doesn't mean the 129 strength will be high as the 119...just means it will be the best it can be at having 119 nailed.

I don't think this is correct. By nailing the 119 with a dish1000 I have a weaker signal than with a 500 and a poor signal on the 129. I think maybe the best way to go is two dishes

Yeah the installed told me today that the 129 has always had lower signals than the 119 and 110. I think I get like 83-88 signal on the 129.

The best way is always to point large dishes at each satellite individually with a switch, and any other solution, be it 500, superdish, 1000, is just a way to make it easier and cleaner.

That's a tradeoff between elegence and functionality.

If it makes you feel any better I'm in Seattle & I'm using a dish 500 to pick up 129 combined with a DP34 and here's what I'm getting after about 10 minutes of moving from 148 to 129

As soon as I paint my house I am putting up a dish1000, anyone in the Northwest is out of the main focus of 129.

I think both of our numbers are in line for the NW. If anyone is getting much higher numbers around here please let me know your secret.

By the way Rbmintz, welcome to the best forum on the net. I have the 2 dish set-up and get signal strengths that are a bit better the you get, I can send you my readings if you want.

I'm on the west side of the sound in Silverdale and with a Dish 500 (using an "I" bracket) for my 129 location, I get numbers similar to Jordan420; some transponders are as much as 15 points higher, and some are the same.

My 110 / 119 dish brings in about 20 points higher for 119, and 10 points higher for 110. I've tried to equalize my 110 and 119 signals, but the 10 point difference is about the best I've been motivated to try.

When 129 came online, I zip tied another LNB to the side of my Quad LNB and could pick up 129 in the upper 50s and low 60s. That was with a cardboard space between the 2 LNBs. A little too hill billy to keep so I threw up another dish and it works fine.

My dp500 is pointed toward large trees and I had a heck of a time getting any signal, now I can't beleive that I am getting as good a signal as I am

As one who has installed since the original Dish 300 was the only dish available for Dish Network, I'd have to say that the 119 values are exactly the same for the Dish 300 as they are for the Dish 1000. The only difference between the Dish 300 and the Dish 1000 is the skew.

119 is the central arc location for the Dish 1000.

Yeah that optimize 119 doesn't sound right to me. When I got my Dish1000 I had to trade down a lot on 110/119. 119 used to be over 100 and now it is somewhere around 90 or so I think.

But that got 129 up to the mid 60's, and without trading down 119 I wasn't even getting 129 to show anything on screen.
