Bloomberg Television this week launched a high-def channel and Time Warner Cable says it will add the channel in New York City and parts of New Jersey on Wednesday.

That's according to an article by Multichannel News.

The publication reports Bloomberg HD will use the right side of the screen and bottom scroll for data and market updates while the main picture will focus on the on-air talent.

Based on the company's description, it appears that Bloomberg HD's picture will resemble financial broadcast rival, CNBC HD Plus, which also uses the widescreen to offer more data to viewers.

"Adding Bloomberg HD to our growing line-up of over 175 HD channels...makes great sense, especially considering our market," said David Gray, Time Warner Cable East regional vice president of marketing. "Bloomberg's new wider screen format also offers our customers richer content."

Bloomberg told Multichannel News that Comcast, Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable are expected to offer the high-def news channel in "the next two, three, four quarters."
