I have the Dish 811 / HDTV combo with the 34" 16:9 direct view monitor. I've had it hooked up with DVI right along but have noticed a decline in PQ on HD lately. I just added a component cable also and do notice a slight improvment in the PQ for that input. Why would this be - the Dish manual says DVI is the best connection.

Also, I notice the manual says this (component) connection is "inactive" if the DVI output is connected to a DVI device but mine both seem to work at the same time.

I've noticed the same thing. Component provides a better picture. I don't know why. What I have noticed is the color saturation is deeper with component. I've called Dish and they claim not to notice it.

dead local = color bars

different satellites, different channels, d*/e*...confused
