All your "thumbs up" thread logos are a little misleading, al_madhi. :) (try mixing it up a little... ;))
 
Its also used with many Cable Modem or DSL connections.

Its quickly being replaced with Wi-Fi as the preffered network connection for laptops.
 
I wouldn't say replaced exactly; they will be installed together, not simply ethernet only as in the past. It will be a VERY long time (if ever) when laptops have ONLY wireless access. In an office or working environment where you have access to both, one with common business knowledge would connect via the wired solution for the data's sake when the connection will be for more than an hour or so.

DSL, cable, VDSL, etc from your ISP are all networks.
