I Was Just Wondering How Everybody Are Getting Thier cable Into The House. I have My Four Run Thru The Wall And It Dose Not Look Good At All. I Thought About Useing A Piece Of 2 1/2" Conduit And Come Up Thru The Floor Has Anybody Else Done It This Way.

I recently built a "communications room" in the basement that contains video / audio equipment as well as RF splitters, amplifiers, etc. I plan on using conduit as well to get up to 12 coax cables into the room from the satellite dishes and antennas.

Currently, as I'm in an apartment, it comes in through a flat coax cable through a window. Before, at the last house I owned, it came into the basement through a 1 1/2" electrical conduit that I intalled up to the roof. It kept all the cables hidden in one the conduit until it got to the dish farm on the roof. I ran as many cables as I could get through the conduit as I could (12), although only 8 were being used, to allow for adding to the system. My switches were inside the basement and in wall cabling to the living room and bedroom were intalled.

If you have space in your utility room where the breaker panel is, bring in all your cables there. Mount a sheet of plywood painted white to the wall and you can terminate all your distribution there. Get an outside box or use bushings to bring them inside after the ground blocks.

Does it not look good on the outside or on the inside? Did you install a plate on the inside? It looks a lot better (imho) if you put a plate up that you can screw the coax to. That way, if you move your, equipment you don't have to worry about the big cable coming through the wall. It's just a little plate with a coax connection or you can install a blank wall plate if you no longer use that connection.

What is your definition of not good?

Here are mine.....4 into the house (off the roof) and the other 8 or 9 under the deck through the A/C pipe hole

Mind Is Like Pic #1 With Each Cable Going Thru A Hole The Reason I Am saying It Looks Bad It Is On The Front Porch 6 ft To Right Of Front Door.

You could put flex loom around it. Still might not look the greatest where it's located but, it would clean it up some.

Not sure exactly where to get them but I'm sure you could find them online somewhere.. the gray cable boxes like the cable company uses. Or even the pvc type outside square boxes for electrical that have a gasket/lid with 4 screws, one in each corner.

Or like pop said, just get a nice planter and some flowers or plant.

The best way to bring the cables into the house is to use an old work-style low voltage "box" or mounting frame. The old-work style boxes have "wings" which hold the "box" or frame against the wall or siding and keeps it secure. I used this approach to make it easy for me to connect and disconnect the OTA HDTV, XM Radio, and DirecTV antennas from a panel on the outside.
