Are CAMs only PCMCIA Smartcard adapters? Or are they special adapters for specific cards? I'm looking to purchase a receiver that can take a CAM, but it seems like they (CAMs) are card encryption specific, ie. you have to buy a Conax CAM for a Conax Smartcard. Also, I looked on Ebay for a CAM but they want ridiculous prices for them and all they appear to be are PCMCIA SmartCard readers. If you look for computer Smartcard readers, they are a heck of a lot more inexpensive. Basically, are CAMs universaal Smartcard readers or are they specific?
Also, can you purchase a subscription card to E* from E*? Or are you required to buy their receivers? I HATE cable  , but like my E* offered channels. I also would like to get into some FTA channels that E* doesn't offer, but don't really want 5 receivers connected to the same tv if possible - any suggests?
