This may sound dumb...but I never have worked with DishPro (until tomorrow) :)

After my escapade with a Legacy Twin/Dual/SW combo (I lose 15-20 points on 110/119 once I hook up a SW21..there is a post in the technical area), I am going to try DishPro

Can a DP34 be mounted outside? I need to hook up 3 dual LNB's (110,119, 61.5 all separate dishes) to a DP34 and only need one line coming in.

If I put it somewhere so its not in the elements, can I mount it outside??

Iceberg, I've had my DP34 mounted outside hooked up to 61.5, 110, and 119 for the past 3 years and it's working fine. I'm here in the twin cities with you, so it has seen 100+ degrees and buried in snow and it keeps working.

If you are needing to feed 2 or less receivers and you are with only 1.

Then why not use a Dish Pro Plus Twin LNB? Then no DP34 switch will be needed.

2 reasons

1. Dont have a DishPro Twin laying around :) Gotta use what I have

Have 3 Legacy Twins, a Legacy Quad, a bunch of Legacy Duals and 5 DishPro Duals

2. My signal on 110 sucks right now so I want to use 3 dishes. Right now I have a Legacy Dual bolted to my StarChoice dish for 119 that I was using for my FTA system for the audio on 119. I can replace that with a DishPro dual and take my current Dish500 and put an I adapter on it for 110 and put a DP dual for 61.5.

I use to have a 18" dish for 110 and that Legacy dual for 119 and both sats had 115+ on almost all TP's :)

Well that explains that....Good Luck with your install.

My DP34 switch has been mounted outside on the back of my house for over 3 years now and still running strong.

and now I remember the 3rd reason...the wiring isn't rated good enough. When I bought the house 4 years ago, the lady had a Legacy Quad and 4 Legacy receivers (old ones) so the wiring is only rated to 1800MHZ.

I just spent 2 hours setting it up for DishPro. Had to replace the cable running into the house for the receiver (thank goodness I only have one receiver)
Dish500 with I adapter on 110
Dish300 on 61.5
DishPro Dual next to my free to air DIsh aimed at G10

100+ on almost all TP's (spotbeams excluded)

I had my DP34 mounted outside with no issues. Most newer Dish installs I've seen have it outside also, in fact, the majority are tie-wrapped and hanging off of the dish itself ! Looks tacky as hell, but it works.... Mine was mounted on the side of my house, out of sight.

Mine has been hooked to the side of my house for four years. When I stopped receiving 61.5 on all receivers recently, I went outside and unplugged the cable from the dish to the DP 34, only to have water come out of the fitting. I left the cable hanging down and water continued to drip out, indicating to me that the leak was in the cable. The Dish tech said the DP 34 was bad, replaced it, and all is fine - for now. I fully expect this DP 34 to go bad since they didn't replace the cable.

I suppose :)

Setup is
Dish500 with "I" adapter for 110 only
Dish300 for 61.5 (I could do 148 but I wanted the HD Demo channel)
LNB for 119 on my G10 FTA dish. Little inginuity and a piece of metal :)

1st picture is the 100 & 61.5 dishes. These are bolted to the mast of my TV antenna
2nd picture is the Galaxy 10 setup with the 2nd LNB for 119
3rd is the whole setup
4th is a closeup of the 123/119 double LNB (one on right is 119)
5th is closeup of the 2 masts bolted to the mast of the TV antenna
6th is the 3 dishes plus my 6 foot C-band dish (that is on a table 30" high so I can clear the roof)
7th is a closeup of a "gutted" stacked LNB (thats how I got the LNB's..notice the "pregnant" part..thats how you know its a stacked LNB
8th is my switch under the deck covered from the elements :)
