Can you put a inline amplifier on a non-amplified antenna??

I don't know much about this stuff really. DirecTV came out and installed my dish and put an Winegard non-amplified OTA antenna up. The local HD channels come in part of the time and other times they come in and out while watching. It will be on, then I will lose signal for a few seconds and then it will be on for a while again.

I was wondering if just buying an amplifier such as one from Channel Master would help solve my problem or if I need a better antenna.

Don't bother with just adding an in-line signal amplifier, it won't do squat for your situation.

Where is your antenna mounted? Outside? Then any amplification may cause more problems than it fixes. In your attic? Then a "pre-amp" may be a big help.

Before you spend any money check out what you should be able to receive with what level of antenna at antennaweb.org. If amplification is called for, remember, you need a pre-amp. CM has a good line of them.
