You might want to read a bit more about the people you are quoting. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is fairly well known for conducting many irresponsible publicity campaigns designed to create mass anxiety and provide a basis for personal injury lawyers to solicit plaintiffs and file bogus lawsuits. If these guys are behind the teflon scare you can be relativly sure the research is BS.

Ahh teflon can definetely make you sick when overheated.

That happened here years ago after a teflon pan was accidently overheated, the aluminimum pan warped bad. we woke up, and a few hours later were all ill.

I'm guessing that almost any substance would give of noxious fumes if heated to the point where the pan warps.
