The guy made a mistake giving a release date, even though he was still vague ! He said 'late spring, maybe summer', so some will hold him to that ! :( He should have just laughed and said "soon".

Dish Anywhere on Android phone already mirrors to Roku, Fire TV & Chromecast, used it last night when I set up a new Roku. Having it as an app on Fire TV will be a bonus.
Does it mirror (DA to Roku) locally only on your LAN? I ask because the Slingbox App for Roku sends it OUT to the public internet and then back again even if you are only Slinging within your LAN. PQ is affected because, like many people, I have fast downstream but only 4Mbps UPstream. Meanwhile, the Slingbox App on FireTV will Sling using ONLY my LAN if I am viewing within my LAN, and this results in crystal clear full HD.

And apps like this are why Roku won't even be a shadow of it self in 5 years. Android TV and FireTV. I don't see a lot of these types of new apps being developed for Roku. As owner of 2 FireTV's, Amazon's superior chip makes using the FireTV a breeze and extremely responsive even compared to my Roku3. The only loss (or GAIN) is that FireTV lacks a lot of those small niche apps for entertainment, but I don't use ANY of those. I more than I can watch on Netflix and Hulu and Amazon who have all the content I am interested in watching via OTT. So, a FireTV stripped of the Roku "junk" app channels if FINE by me--AND FireTV supports VLC which plays all necessary files INCLUDING my VOB files. Roku Media Player predictably does NOT play VOB, and VLC is my preferred player on all other devices and desktops. Buh-bye Roku--AND their crazy marketing with too many types of players to choose from. Roku needs to stick with Good; Better; Best.

Are you sure Dishanywhere will stream to Chromecast? I have yet to see evidence of this from an iPhone.

I wonder what the cost of Dish with Flex compares to Sling service for the channels that are offered. For $50 you can have a Hopper and use it anywhere streaming to other tv's and have the locals option for $10 more and no additional outlet fees.
