I read another story recently where the new ruling by the FCC allowing white spaces to be used and where it is unlicensed spectrum is going to hurt Wi-Max attempted by cell phone companies.

White Spaces allows people to use unused spectrum in the frequency range that the television stations operate on. This allows better service coverage around terrain and trees compared to what is currently being offered.
