What's the deal with some of these HD channels? I know their capable of showing HD because when the occasional "special program", like an awards show comes on, it's usually in HD. But it seems like for everything else we get letterboxes. Almost ALL music videos (which are few and far between anymore on CMT) are letterboxed also. This really sucks. It makes my 58" TV look like 50".

Let's go CMT. If your gonna have an HD channel, how about showing some HD!!!

Unfortunately, as customers we have no way of forcing a channel that's labeled HD to actually show any HD. Those channels come to us in an HD package, and we pay premium price for them no matter what they show. I wish there were some sort of rules or regulations that would require a channel to have, say, at least 50% of its content in HD before being able to market that channel as HD.

CMT is not alone. Most of the Viacom owned channels are substantially HD free.

The solution is to mount a campaign to convince Viacom to bulk up on the HD content.
