EATONTOWN, N.J., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Cable, a division of Comcast Corporation, was named winner of the New Jersey Technology Council's (NJTC) "2005 Communications Company of the Year" award, for excellence in various areas of communication technology, including leading the industry in growth and product impact. Comcast will receive the prestigious award at the NJTC's Annual Awards Gala on November 4 in Newark, NJ.

The NJTC is a non-profit organization that provides a means of support, networking, information gathering, and advocacy for its membership, which consists of more than 1,300 companies in the technology sector in the New Jersey area. The Council's annual awards recognize companies in the New Jersey technology community for achievements such as "Private Company of the Year," "Excellence in Technology Education," "Life Sciences Company of the Year," and more.

NJTC President and CEO, Maxine Ballen, said, "The New Jersey Technology Council is proud to honor Comcast with the 2005 Communications Company of the Year award. It is fitting that, as the NJTC enters its tenth year supporting the state's most innovative companies, we recognize Comcast, one of the region's most innovative, forward-thinking companies, and one that provides products and services both to its customers and to the communities it serves. Comcast is one of this area's best and brightest companies and the NJTC looks forward to watching the company continue to grow and prosper in the highly competitive communications sector."

"It is an honor to be recognized by the New Jersey Technology Council as Communications Company of the Year," said Joe Fischer, Comcast senior regional vice president for New Jersey. "This award recognizes the significant investments in technology and training that Comcast has made in order to provide our customers with the best in home entertainment, communications and information services."

With more than 1.4 million customers in New Jersey, Comcast has established itself as the industry leader in digital cable and high definition programming. Its innovative cable services like video on demand and Digital Video Recorders are truly redefining the home entertainment experience, allowing customers to watch what they want when and where they want. Additionally, Comcast's 100 percent pure broadband network provides the fastest and most reliable high-speed Internet service and serves as the backbone for Comcast Digital Voice - the first true competitive alternative in residential phone service, offering digital quality and unlimited local and long distance. Comcast Digital Voice will begin launching in New Jersey later this year.

Comcast is continuously revolutionizing digital communications by offering customers programming and products that connect them to what is important in their lives. This October, CN8, The Comcast Network, will join forces to support New Jersey's upcoming gubernatorial election by introducing "CN8 Presents: Candidates on Demand." This exclusive programming will feature one- on-one interviews with NJ Gubernatorial candidates, including Corzine and Forrester, to discuss their campaigns, platforms and positions on policies. The CN8-produced interviews will be available on Comcast Digital Cable's "On Demand" service at no additional charge. Additionally, CN8 will feature extensive and exclusive coverage of the race on its original programming and news shows, including live election night coverage.
