Comcast Corp. will add 60 jobs in the Sacramento area to meet the burgeoning demand for high-speed Internet access and cable television services, company officials reported Thursday.

The company (Nasdaq: CMCSA - News) should fill the positions -- including customer-service representatives and field technician jobs -- within the next 90 days. The employees will work at the company's call center near Arco Arena and the soon-to-be completed $12 million technical operations center in North Natomas.

The 60 jobs are in addition to the new 175 technical employee positions reported in September, said Comcast spokesman Bryan Byrd. Some of the 175 positions have been filled, while others are open.

The new technical operations center will replace Comcast's building on Pell Drive in Natomas and house more than 550 workers. The 64,050-square-foot building, which includes a warehouse, should be completed in July.

The tech center will help the company support its on-demand, high-definition TV, digital video recording and high-speed Internet access.

Comcast's local markets include Sacramento County, Davis, Roseville and Placerville. In Greater Sacramento, Comcast competes with AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T - News) SureWest Communications (Nasdaq: SURW - News) of Roseville and Frontier in Elk Grove for pay TV and high-speed Internet access.

Comcast stock was down 38 cents to $26.34 per share Thursday.
