Hi guys...
I'm getting ready to do some more wiring around the house and I'm wondering if all compression connectors work with all compression tools? I already have a comp. tool that I bought at Lowes, but their prices on the connectors are nuts!
It's a Zenith tool, if that matters.

I'd like to use Digicon connectors that I saw here... http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?main_cat=20305&PROD=WMFDIGI-SQ

Can any of the pros out there tell me if they will work with the Zenith Compression tool?

Thanks... :)

Are you talking about the little blue Zenith compresson tool with the black threaded "bolt"? If so and plan on doing more then about 4 compressions run, don't walk, to any place that sells a real compression tool. The ones you buy at home improvement stores are meant to do only a couple. Any more then that and they have a tendency to strip the threads.

On a related topic and not meaning to thread hijack, does anyone know of an affordable source for RCA compression connectors?

If you are talking about this one:

Then yes, that one is pretty good. The one that Cdru is talking about is the old model where you had use some black threaded bolt, the new model is pretty solid.

I've used Snap N Seal, PPC EX6XL, and SealSmart connectors with this one and of course the Zenith connectors. Those Zenith connectors are crap and expensive compared to the SNS and PPC connectors.

Cdru,

How about Hometech.com:

The tool I was talking about is this one. The new version looks a lot better.

I found them earlier but I still think $2 a connector is too salty. You can easily find quality compression f connectors for $35/100 or less. Ebay has em for even less. I wouldn't have thought that RCA connectors would have been that much more 6x the retail cost.

Thanks guys... The tool I have looks like the one RandallA put in his post. I know there are much better tools out there, but I won't have much need at all for the thing once I've done this job. At least not in the foreseeable future.

Thanks again! :)

Thanks again... I think I found a decent deal at solid signal on a bag of 100 digicon connectors. Since I'm doing the entire house, I might as well grab them all. (I'll probably be glad once I screw a couple up anyway! lol)
