Connecting to the internet?

Just wondering what the advantages of hooking my HR-21 to the internet would have?

1. You can buy ppv with out having a phone line attached.
2. Video on demand
3. If you run a Media Server like Tversity you can streaming movies etc from a pc to your box.
4. If you pay 30 bucks for Playon media server you can stream Hulu and Netflix on demand to your box.

I am sure there is more reasons but those are the ones I use it for except ppv as I buy that via Directv.com as the auth goes out to all the recievers and instead of just one .

Do you know if you can watch stuff off the box on the PC? Like through windows Media Center?

Download DirecTV2PC software on your computer from DirecTVs website and you will be able to watch on you PC anything you recorded on you DRV.

Do you have to use that software or can you just use Windows Media Center?

What protects the DVR when it connects to the net ? ie: is it exposed to the world or is it safe since it only goes to DTV ?
