I don't use my Coolsat 5000 very frequently right now, but I've noticed that sometimes the clock will reset back to its default time of midnight, some day/month in 2004. I'm not power-cycling it, and we haven't had any power outages. Is there an internal battery that keeps the clock going that might be dead? The unit is about a month old.

sadly there is one flaw of the Coolsat and its that the clock doesnt seem to keep time correctly.

Even though I have mine set as "manual" some channels screw the date/time up. I went to a news feed and the clock said 00:05 instead of 18:00 and the date may be 6 months off

I know if I move to a DBS slot the time resets right.

Huh. So it tries to synchronize off of received signals? Ok...that's a bit of a relief, I was afraid my unit was going bad alread :)

yes it picks up the signal that the station is sending for a time/date (which on feeds is almost always off) and it goofs it up

I move to Nimiq1 and it pings right every time :)

Billion Here

On my CoolSat 5000 the Date and time work great. the way i got mine to
work is under GMT Usage leave to Off then set Current Date and Current
Time, under Local Offset iam in The central so i set that to Central US [-6]
then save and reboot the receiver that worked for me.
