Hi all,
I was wondering if a 100cm KU Band dish could be used for c-band reception.

Generally Ku dishes are not divided in petals like BUDs so the paraboloid of revolution is more accurate.
Any irregularities at the surface of the dish is not relevant at C-Band wavelengths.

I am talking about the feasibility of a ku dish to perform in c-band, I know 1m is small for c-band and the lnbf issue but theoretically, could it work?

Thanks for your comments

Here is a relevant thread for you to read.
It chronicles Linuxman's tests on a 1m Primestar dish.
There are other threads on the subject.

I'd say you could get some limited results with 1 meter.
You'll find a list of the channels he received.
But the step up to just 1.2m seems to provide considerable improvement.

Please read up on the subject before getting carried away.
There are a number of shortcomings, and they're pretty well documented.

edit: on the other hand, these 1.8 meter (six foot) Ku dishes, do a quite respectable job on C-band.

but dont expect miracles. What he received is a handful of channels that are very strong on the signal quality side.

a 6 footer minimum is best for C-band
