First Look: Meet Hawkgirl and Hawkman From ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/hawkman-hawkgirl-legends-of-tomorrow-photo-1201590537/
Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) are taking flight on The CW this season, and the network has released the first photo of the two DC Comics heroes in costume. They’ll make their debut together in crossover episodes of “Arrow” and “The Flash” before spinoff series “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” premieres at midseason.Hawkgirl (aka Kendra Saunders) and Hawkman (aka Carter Hall) are soulmates and reincarnations of Ancient Egyptian royalty, fated to be reborn throughout time. Both heroes can access the powers of the Hawk God Horus, allowing them to sprout wings from their backs.Renée already made her first onscreen appearance as Kendra in the season one finale of “The Flash,” while other members of the “Legends” roster have previously been introduced via “Arrow” and “The Flash,” including Ray Palmer/the Atom (Brandon Routh; Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz); one half of Firestorm, Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber); Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell); and Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). Two newcomers to the shared universe, Jay Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), round out the eclectic team, and they’ll all appear in “Arrow” and “The Flash’s” upcoming crossover event ahead of “Legends of Tomorrow’s” premiere. The group will face off with Casper Crump’s immortal DC villain Vandal Savage.

Justice League 3001 to be All-Female Next Year http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/09/18/justice-league-3001-to-be-all-female-next-year
Justice League 3001 will feature a full roster of women starting in January 2016.Newsarama reports that the line-up will include long-established heroes like Supergirl alongside more recent creations like a gender-swapped Flash."It's not because I decided I wanted to write all females," said series co-creator Keith Giffen. "It's not there to say, 'Oh look, we've got an all-female team!' Who cares? It's just the way it shook out." He added, "Some of the characters just seemed more interesting or more appropriate for the kind of stories we're trying to tell."He also mentioned Supergirl's role on the new team, which seems similar to Superman's as a de facto leader based on her advanced powers."They're flawed. They're all flawed. Their aren't complete. And along comes Supergirl... and it's Supergirl! And she's got all the powers. And also, she's kind of a couple steps above them. And I love having that character around. I will really fight to keep her in the book."

The CW’s ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ to Feature the Metal Men? http://collider.com/legends-of-tomorrow-metal-men/
Though The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow doesn’t debut until mid-season in 2016, filming on the time-traveling spin-off series is currently underway. Creator/writer Marc Guggenheim took to social media today to remind audiences that the show is in production, while also dropping a teaser image. No, it doesn’t feature any new characters, action scenes, or pages from the script; what it does show is the cover of an issue of a fictional news magazine featuring platinum ore and metal bars. What could it possibly mean?Well, as CBR surmises, the Metal Men may be stepping off of the pages of DC Comics and into the spin-off series. No pun intended, but these heroes first appeared during the Silver Age of comics in 1962, going on to appear in an animated series as well as other various merchandise. The team is composed of artificially intelligent robots created by Dr. Will Magnus. Named Gold, Iron, Mercury, Lead, Tin, and Platinum, each of the robots’ personalities were drawn from the metal that made up their bodies. Platinum, also called “Tina”, was the female robot of the group who considered herself to be a real woman and who fell in love with her creator. While the teased image certainly doesn’t confirm her appearance in Legends of Tomorrow, it’s not a bad jumping off point for speculation.Check out the tease from Guggenheim below:

Legends Of Tomorrow Has Added Another Major Comics Character http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...ded-Another-Major-Comics-Character-87707.html
The Legends of Tomorrow team is comprised of heroes and villains from the present day, but with the help of Time Master Rip Hunter, they’ll be traveling through time to stop main antagonist Vandal Savage at various points in history. So far, it hasn’t been revealed what they’ll encounter during their temporal adventures, but now we’ve learned about one of the first people they’ll be meeting, and it won’t be in the most friendliest of environments. It’s been announced Mr. Robot actress Stephanie Corneliussen will be playing Valentina Vostok, whom comic book fans may know better as Negative Woman, for multiple episodes of the superhero series.Legends of Tomorrow’s Valentina is described as a “gifted and beautiful Soviet physicist” that will do whatever it takes to defend the “Motherland,” according to TV Line. When the eponymous team travels back to the height of the Cold War, they will meet Valentina and suspect she’s in league with Vandal Savage to build a secret weapon. It will be up to The Atom and Captain Cold to win her heart in order to find out where her true loyalties lie and prevent her from completing this weapon, which could turn the tide of the Cold War.In the comics, Valentina was a Soviet Air Force pilot who attempted to defect to the United States. Unfortunately, the experimental aircraft she stole ended up crashing at the same spot where the original superhero team The Doom Patrol had perished in battle. Valentina was subsequently infused with energy that came from team member Negative Man, only while her male predecessor was able to generate an energy being (called a “soul self”) from out of his own body, she would actually transform herself into that same type of being. Calling herself Negative Woman, she joined a new iteration of the Doom Patrol, but years later when Negative Man was discovered to still be alive, the energy that inhabited her body went back to him and she was left powerless.

Legends of Tomorrow Cast Adds Peter Francis James http://screenrant.com/legends-of-tomorrow-peter-francis-james/
Both Arrow and The Flash return with new seasons in only two weeks, but we still have a few months before the debut of The CW’s newest addition to their DC Comics programming slate — Legends of Tomorrow. Expected to premiere in the spring, Legends will feature a team of DC television heroes and villains working together against an enemy more powerful than anyone they’ve encountered before — Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). The Legends team includes The Atom/Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), White Canary/Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm (Victor Garber), Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). They’ll be assembled by newcomer and time traveler, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), and joined by another pair of new-to-DC TV heroes, Hawkman and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee & Falk Hentschel). Before appearing on Legends, however, Hawkman a.k.a Carter Hall will first crop up during this year’s Arrow/Flash crossover, likely in some way connected to Palmer, seeing as in the comics the two characters are old friends. But Hall won’t be the only Legends character who’ll appear: Dr. Aldus Boardman, a new character played by Peter Francis James, will first appear alongside Hall during the episode, before also continuing on to Legends of Tomorrow (via ComicBook.com).

Legends of Tomorrow’s New Firestorm Revealed – What About Robbie Amell? http://screenrant.com/flash-new-firestorm-actor-legends-tomorrow-amell/
Ever since The Flash brought DC Comics superhero Firestorm – a.k.a. Ronnie Raymond… and Martin Stein – into The CW’s shared universe of costumed heroes, fans have been wondering what the network had in mind for the character’s future. The duo of actors Robbie Amell (The DUFF) and Victor Garber (Argo) impressed from the start, but when the latter was announced to be reprising his role on the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Amell’s absence was more than suspicious.Although the actor is confirmed to appear as Ronnie in The Flash‘s second season premiere, a brand new promo for the show seems to confirm what many have suspected: that a new actor will be taking over the role of Firestorm. What’s less than expected is that he’ll be played by Franz Drameh, a LoT cast member whose role has been kept secret – until now.The promo in question doesn’t give much of an explanation of just what events or tragedies will see Ronnie Raymond give up the job of Firestorm’s physical form, but the evidence is straightforward enough. Drameh appears not once, but three times in the short video (now pulled), two of which see him sporting the character’s telltale Splicer (the device which allowed Ronnie and Martin to merge without incident).

Legends Of Tomorrow: First Look At The New Firestorm http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Legends-Tomorrow-First-Look-Firestorm-89057.html
It’s no secret that the Firestorm situation in the DC TV universe is going to change in the coming months. Although Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein started out as the Nuclear Man in The Flash Season 1, Robbie Amell won’t be reprising Ronnie in Legends of Tomorrow, leaving Stein to share the superhero mantle with another cast member in the DC spinoff. After he was mentioned earlier this year, we now have our first look at Legends of Tomorrow’s Jay Jackson, played by Franz Drameh, as the new Firestorm co-host. In a new trailer for The Flash Season 2 (that has since been pulled), the CW gave a quick behind-the-scenes peek at Drameh as Firestorm next to Grant Gustin as the eponymous Scarlet Speedster. Just like Ronnie, Jay will be the body of Firestorm while Stein is giving him advice in his head. This summer at San Diego Comic-Con, Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Phil Klemmer mentioned that Jay will be the last person that Stein wants to share Firestorm with, and it looks like we’ll see these two together sooner than expected. Because this scene is in a Flash preview, this means that we’ll see Drameh debut as Jay either in one of the early Season 2 episodes or later this year in the Arrow/The Flash crossover alongside other Legends of Tomorrow players like Hawkman and Vandal Savage.

Warner Bros bets big on DC Comics for TV http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/02/warn...adline|headline|story&par=yahoo&doc=103045093
Marvel may rule the superhero box office, but DC Comics is launching an all-out comic book blitz on television this season.DC-parent and Time Warner-subsidiary Warner Bros. is betting audiences are hungry for more comic book content. The studio has turned out a string of superhero and horror hits at a time when young audiences are shifting to streaming on-demand video, an ideal home for serialized genre series with loyal fan followings.During an August conference call, Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes singled out DC Comics as an example of "how the best [intellectual property] can be monetized across many different platforms both inside and beyond traditional ecosystems."Marvel has also expanded to the small screen, but its live-action network shows are limited to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the midseason replacement series "Agent Carter." Marvel is also rolling out original superhero shows on Netflix.

Brandon Routh Talks ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, the Concept of the Show & Its Season Long Arc http://collider.com/brandon-routh-legends-of-tomorrow-interview-nycc/
With filming now underway on the next CW superhero show, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, members of the cast came to New York Comic-Con over the weekend to promote the new DC show, which debuts midseason. While we knew who would be starring on the show and the basic concept – superheroes and villains must band together to save the future – there were still plenty of pressing questions, such as if the tone be closer to The Flash or Arrow, what are the rules of time travel on the show, and what’s the big season-long arc. Thankfully, after participating in a number of group interviews, I can say that Legends of Tomorrow sounds quite different from the other CW superhero shows and any worries about the time travel aspect of the series has been quelled.I’ll be posting numerous interviews from the show’s cast and crew over the next few days, and first up is Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer / The Atom). During the interview, he talked about the concept of the show, the season-long arc, how his experiences playing Superman helped with this role, if he ever expected to play another superhero, the tone of Legends of Tomorrow compared to The Flash and Arrow, and more. Watch what he had to say below.DC’s Legends of Tomorrow also stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”).

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Time Travel Rules & Spaceship Description http://screenrant.com/legends-tomorrow-cw-time-travel-rules-paradoxes/
Legends of Tomorrow is going to be DC Comics most ambitious (and some would say, risky) superhero spinoff series for The CW, following in the footsteps of hit series Arrow and its spinoff, The Flash. The new show acts as miniseries spinoff of The Flash‘s time-bending mythology, in which a so-called time master named Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) gathers various heroes and villains we’ve met in both Arrow and The Flash, for a team tasked with patrolling the time stream and thwarting an evil immortal named Vandal Savage (Casper Crump).Though the team starts out as a combination of disparate personalities – Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Firestorm (Victor Garber), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and villains Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) and Cold (Wentworth Miller) – are told that they are destined to become … (you guessed it) legendary heroes of the future. We came to New York Comic-Con 2015 with plenty of questions for the cast and crew in attendance, which included Brandon Routh, Ciara Renee, Arthur Darvill and producer Phil Klemmer. One of the biggest topic to dissect was Legends of Tomorrow‘s plans for time travel, and all the convoluted time travel logic that can strangle the continuity of a story, franchise, or shared universe, if not managed properly. In particular, we probed Klemmer for his time travel logistical rules (as a showrunner), as well as speaking to the time master himself, Rip Hunter, about how the rules for this new time-hopping adventure series differ from the other time-hopping adventure series that actor Arthur Darvill is known for (Doctor Who). Check out what they had to say in the interview snippets below.

How Legends Of Tomorrow Will Deal With Time Travel, According To The Producer http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...ith-Time-Travel-According-Producer-92157.html
TV shows based on comics always require some serious suspension of disbelief for the premises, and The CW’s superhero universe is no different. Back in 2012, we had to accept Oliver Queen as a gravity-defying archer extraordinaire with a penchant for working out shirtless on Arrow. In 2014, we saw Barry Allen acquire super speed and super healing after being struck by lightning on The Flash. The upcoming year will see us needing to suspend our disbelief a whole lot further for spinoff Legends of Tomorrow, which centers on the tricky concept of time travel. Fortunately, producer Phil Klemmer is quick to promise that there will be some rules.According to Screenrant, Phil Klemmer had this to say about the rules of time travel on Legends of Tomorrow:No, death means death; if you lose that, you get the kind of ‘get out of jail free card.’ You know, we do construct a rule on our show that if you kill me right now with a hatchet, the rest of the team can’t just go on for a show, then go back in time and stop you from hitting me with the hatchet. Our rule is that when try to interfere with events that you participated in, that creates a time paradox, and black holes, and horrible things happen. So we want to keep those tensions alive; when our characters are in moments of mortal peril, that they do have consequences – they they’re not just like, ‘well, it’s Groundhog Day, we’ll start over tomorrow. While Klemmer’s promise does have something of an ominous ring to it – especially considering the size of the Legends cast that certainly could be trimmed for maximum tragedy at any point – the rule of death meaning death will keep the stakes nice and high. Without a single lead character, tension that any character could die at any point will likely work in the show's favor. It also sets Legends apart from sister shows Arrow, which have already seen resurrections bringing back major characters. In fact, principle Legends character Sara Lance will be returning from the dead on Arrow in order to take her place in the spinoff.

Legends of Tomorrow cast teases the show's comedic side http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/15/legends-of-tomorrow-new-york-comic-con-interview
Saving the world sounds like serious business, but on The CW’s upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, that serious business will be coupled with plenty of humor, according to executive producer Phil Klemmer and cast members Arthur Darvill, Brandon Routh, and Ciara Renée, who stopped by the EW and SiriusXM studio during New York Comic Con to talk about the show.“We just sort of found when you combine this eclectic group of heroes and villains, and you put them in the thrilling and preposterous conceit of being on a time-traveling spaceship, the tone kind of has to match the amplification of the characters and the tone,” Klemmer explained. “Our show, it’s funny to me. The only way to leaven a team trying to save the world and an immortal bad guy who destroys it is by having really funny character moments. You can’t put these eight guys in a room without cracking jokes, you know.”So far, the series based on DC comic book characters about a group of super misfits teaming up to battle evil across time and space has finished shooting a few early episodes. The hard work left Darvill, who plays the time-traveling Rip Hunter, with a raspy voice. “We’re on episode 3, so we’ve just shot our big pilot things, which was great and we’re all still emotionally coming out of that a little bit,” he said. “I spent the whole day fighting someone … so I got very overexcited and screamed my way through it.” Darvill’s cast mates Routh and Renée, meanwhile, didn’t lose their voices, but spoke further about the challenges of playing characters who operate in the crossover-heavy universe of Arrow, The Flash, and now, Legends of Tomorrow. For Routh, his appearance on Arrow has primed audiences for the Atom’s return, while Renée’s Hawkgirl will be introduced to fans in an arc later this season on The Flash.

Legends of Tomorrow: Hawkgirl’s Origin, Future, and Flash Crossover http://screenrant.com/legends-tomorrow-hawkgirl-origin-flash-arrow/
One of the more intriguing aspects of Legends of Tomorrow is the inclusion of iconic DC superheroes Hawkman and Hawkgirl in the show; Hawkman will be played by Falk Hentschel (Reckless), while Hawkgirl will be played by theater actress Ciara Renee (Pipin). For years DC fans have either anticipated or dreaded seeing Hawkman in a live-action DC Universe. The Superman origin show Smallville brought the character to TV screens – and while the character of Carter Hall/Hawkman was well portrayed by actor Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks, the visual effects to create Hawkman’s powers were a bit on the cheesy side:

How Legends Of Tomorrow Could Explain Hawkgirl's Origin http://www.cinemablend.com/television/How-Legends-Tomorrow-Could-Explain-Hawkgirl-Origin-93297.html
DC’s winged hero Hawkgirl has been featured several times outside of the comics, but her biggest media appearance yet will be in The CW's upcoming team-up series Legends of Tomorrow. Played by Ciara Renée, she’ll be one of the many heroes whom time traveler Rip Hunter will recruit to help defeat the millennia-old evildoer Vandal Savage. Rather than go the alien route with the character, Legends of Tomorrow will delve into the Hawkgirl’s mystical background from the comics, and this could result in fans seeing several versions of the superheroine. In reference to the various retcons in Hawkgirl’s comic book history, Renée explained how Hawkgirl’s TV origin has been “streamlined” and touched on how the show will be able to explore all the different incarnations of her character through time. According to ScreenRant, Renée said:

Legends Of Tomorrow: How The Lazarus Pit Will Change Sara Lance http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Legends-Tomorrow-How-Lazarus-Pit-Change-Sara-Lance-93367.html
When The CW posted the Legends of Tomorrow trailer at the end of last season, we knew that the original Black Canary, Sara Lance, would be returning. Some of the how details began to get filled in at the end of last week’s episode of Arrow, as Laurel Lance is planning on using the Lazarus Pit to resurrect her sister. But what kind of state will Sara be in when she returns? According to the showrunner, she’ll be alive, but without any real humanity. The showrunner for Legends, Phil Klemmer, spoke to TVGuide.com and gave a bit of an explanation about how Sara will fit into the overall team when she comes back to life.

Legends Of Tomorrow Will Add A Character Arrow Fans Have Been Waiting For http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...acter-Arrow-Fans-Have-Been-Waiting-93997.html
The DC Comics universe (well, the pre-New 52 one anyway) is a world that’s rooted in legacy. When certain heroes or villains have died or retired, others have taken up their mantle. The CW’s DC series Arrow and The Flash haven’t gotten to explore this kind of legacy yet, since most of these colorful characters haven’t been around long. However, while Oliver Queen’s is the only Green Arrow in the present day, when the spinoff Legends of Tomorrow airs next year, we’ll see another Emerald Archer make the jump to live action: Connor Hawke. After it was reported that Legends of Tomorrow Episode 6 is casting an “African-American or biracial male” who would put on the uniform of a missing hero, Comicbook.com confirmed with Warner Bros that this will be Connor Hawke, the second Green Arrow and Oliver Queen’s son in the comics. Connor made his comics debut in 1994, and following his father’s temporary death, he became the new Green Arrow, an identity he continued to use even after Oliver’s resurrection. While the studio didn’t give away a ton of details about the character, the company did say that unlike the comics, Connor will not be the son of Oliver and Sandra Hawke in this continuity.

5 Things About Legends Of Tomorrow We Recently Learned On Flash And Arrow http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...ow-We-Recently-Learned-Flash-Arrow-96377.html
One of the mostly highly anticipated new shows coming up doesn’t actually have a premiere date yet, but that hasn’t stopped The CW from doling out the goodies ahead of time. The latest installment of the CW’s DC superhero universe Legends of Tomorrow is being set up ahead of time thanks to the parent shows The Flash and Arrow (that premiered their second and fourth seasons back in October).Of course, Flash and Arrow have their own plots to develop before the Flarrow crossover that will bring a bunch of the TV DC characters together for one event. It’s been up to viewers to find the nuggets of dropped Legends hints on The Flash and Arrow. Fortunately, we know enough about the spinoff to figure out what might matter for the series… and what might not. Check out five things about Legends of Tomorrow that we recently learned on The Flash and Arrow!

Constantine Came to Arrow, But Is All the DC's Legends of Tomorrow Set-Up Stealing the Show? http://www.eonline.com/news/713111/...-legends-of-tomorrow-set-up-stealing-the-show
No one was more excited than we were when we heard the CW was spinning off characters from Arrow and The Flash into DC's Legends of Tomorrow. And then we saw what the set-up for the series meant for the shows that bore it.
Don't get us wrong, we're still excited, but take a look back at the first four episodes of Arrow's fourth season. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) has been consumed with deciphering the last message Ray (Brandon Routh) left her before his assumed death, while Laurel (Katie Cassidy) took it upon herself to resurrect dead sis Sara (Caity Lotz), dragging the whole team into the mess of restoring a resurrected soul to its rightful state. And for what? Well, largely to have Ray and Sara's returns to life make sense once its mid-season and they're starring on their own show.

Is DC’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Hurting Other Superhero Shows? http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertain...ing-other-superhero-shows.html/?ref=YF&tpl=op
In 2012, the CW struck gold when Arrow became a runaway hit after just one season. The network soon parlayed this into The Flash, marking the first step toward DC’s expanded TV universe. The network hasn’t slowed down since then, having made its way into Season 4 of Arrow and Season 2 of The Flash, with plans for Legends of Tomorrow now in the works. Legends is the boldest expansion yet from the CW, as a show featuring a team of characters new and old: White Canary, Firestorm, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Hawk Girl, Atom, and Rip Hunter. In preparation for the 2016 debut of Legends, both The Flash and Arrow have been working hard to establish each member of the new team. One by one, we’ve seen them each get an episode devoted to their origin story. Arrow has already covered Firestorm, White Canary, and soon Atom, while The Flash has taken on Firestorm, Hawk Girl, and Rip Hunter (at least in a passing mention). What’s beginning to happen though is exactly what’s plagued the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that’s the feeling that every episode is merely setting up the next one, which in turn does the same for the next episode after that. It’s a constant cycle of teasing the next big thing, and after awhile, it gets exhausting. At some point we just want the damn story told, rather than subtle hints at something we might see 3-4 weeks from now that end up hinting at something else another month into the future. It’s something Marvel does to a fault, and we’re seeing DC fall into the same trap on the CW. The most recent seasons of Arrow and The Flash have begun to split their focus, and with every episode it’s becoming more and more of a problem.

8 More Heroes Who Should Show Up In DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow http://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/8-heroes-show-dcs-legends-tomorrow/
With Arrow and The Flash introducing so many new characters, it was inevitable that a spinoff would eventually be launched. While it initially looked like The Atom (Brandon Routh) would be getting his own series, fans were shocked when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was announced.Assembling some of the best heroes and villains from both shows (as well as introducing a few new ones), Legends of Tomorrow will launch in early 2016 and pits the ragtag group against the immortal villain, Vandal Savage. Led by time traveller Rip Hunter, the “Legends of Tomorrow” are expected to travel through time and to alternate realities as they try to bring down this mysterious and dangerous foe (who will be introduced in the upcoming Arrow/The Flash crossover). It’s really The Flash which opened the door to this series becoming a reality of course, as its first seasons did what many thought was impossible when it made a complicated time travel plot something that even non-comic book readers could fully embrace. With that show now fully running with the concept of alternate universes, it feels appropriate that Legends of Tomorrow is actually going to in some ways pick up where that left off.
