Dallas

After offering a J.R. Ewing-themed alcohol, TNT has announced another product tie-in to promote its new season of “Dallas”: cheap gasoline.
Ewing Energies’ first-ever gas station hits Manhattan on Feb. 24 — the day of the “Dallas” season three premiere.

Sounds like a fun stunt, but I would not want to see that gas line, especially if they do something like 50 cents a gallon gas...

Cool, all new, well retro, opening. Changed back to the way it was in the original series.
Well, except no shirtless Bobby in the pool :D

The oldest Dallas plot line... The world looks like it is about to end for JR and then he turns out to have had a secret plan and gets it all back... Now JR JR is doing it.
Does he?

Except a few times against Cliff, JR almost always lost, especially against Bobby.

I'm surprised characters on the show keep saying how much of a mastermind he was, when he almost always lost.

And yet somehow he would end up back in the game with tons of cash, and more powerful than ever. Bobby was his kryptonite, although he would try he never really would screw over family like he did with Cliff. Then again of course it is fiction, and if the villain is killed or made powerless what good are they? The villain always will make a come back and be a real threat.

How so? If anything, he got weaker and weaker every year. Finally lost Ewing Oil, and after that never got back up. Even had to watch as Bobby sold the new Ewing Oil away. At the end, he was left with nothing (Bobby had Southfork and Cliff had Ewing Oil).

Other than when he inherited part of Ewing Oil, and Bobby gave him an equal share after beating him in the contest for full control, JR never gained more power or money. All he ever managed to do was piss away everything he was given or inherited.

And yet if JR and Bobby walked into a crowed room who would everyone turn their head to look at.... JR:cool:

True, he was larger than life, and had a reputation for being a snake. But the new series is building him up more than he ever was. Towards the end of the original series, nobody except Cliff took JR seriously, and even at the end Cliff also was regularly winning against him. Other than being in a nursing home, and flat broke, nothing shows JR doing anything in the interim to be considered a mastermind.
