This is to Fat Air if he wishes to help.
I think my receiver has bit the dust. Bought it in 12-2010.
Openbox s9 HD PVR.
10' open mesh dish. Chaparal lnbs c and ku
Using a Uniden sq530 to push the dish. Old but it works.
The dish moves. The open box boots. No menu goes to the
screen. Tried the switch on the back of the OPenbox and it
does nothing. Channels will move but erratically. Turning
the unit off and on has no effect. It's not the remote. It seems
to work and I checked the batteries.
I will gladly add any additional info needed.
Regards,
Known here as shanklej.

Welcome back to satguys, been a long time. Things must have been working well to be away so long.

No Menu, channel buttons erratic, may be that the remote buttons are bad.
You can check the remote with a digital camera, or computer (laptop?) with a webcam. watch the camera image and aim the remote at it. Watch the flashing as you press buttons.
If it is only the remote, may still get them

I put my S9 into secondary action, kept as a back-up, about 2 years ago(+/-)

Thanks for replying Fat Air.
Don't think it is the remote but I could be wrong.
Reason if I go to the receiver and press the channel button,
I get the same erratic channel action and nothing shows on the
TV. Will try your test of the remote.

I still think the receive is dead. Trouble is there are so many receivers out
there it is very difficult for one of my limited experience to know which one to get.
And where to get it????
On the same site as the Linkbox 9000 they have another box called
Manhaton dj-1111lb fta isptv for $100. I guess this is an old version?
Also is the Linkbox made in the USA?

Also the Linkbox 9000 only has a 2 star rating. Seems like it should be at least a 4 star rating.....

Please help me pick a decent FTA Satellite Receiver. Something in the $150 to $200 range.
Preferably made in the USA. Fat Air mentioned the Linkbox 9000 but it only has a 2 star rating.
There are so many and I am confused.

Maybe a button on the receiver itself is sticking?

Stay away from the GeosatPro HDVR3500 receiver, some bugs in that one that need to be worked out still. My most reliable receiver I have here is my MicroHD, if you could find one of them used somewhere, it's a nice basic receiver.

I take from the name of this receiver "Manhatten dj-1997 hd fta iptv" that it must be a old
model and because of the cheap price. Am I right ?

Might be reading to much into the name... :D

The 1997 is appropriately priced for the features. It is based on the same platform used by the X2 Premium, HRVR1200 and SR1. The chipset was released about 3 years ago.

The Linkbox 9000 provides superior SD images with better deinterlace conversion.

Thanks everyone for replying, It's appreciated.
Just for verification before buying, does the Linkbox 9000 local work with
the Chaparral C and KU lnbs? I will also have to connect it to my old Uniden
sq530.

Any of these modern boxes will not control the polarotor on the feedhorn.
The LNB's will work though.

Digital FTA receivers no longer are able to move the dish or control a polarity servo.

Does your C/KU feed have a servo? If so, you can either use the Uniden analog IRD to manually position the dish and select polarity for each channel you view on the digital receiver.

or

You could use the Titanium Satellite ASC1 positioner to automatically position and set the polarity using only the digital receiver remote control. The ASC1 positioner interprets the receiver's request for satellite and polarity and converts to control the BUD position and polarity motors.

Edit: KE4EST beat me to the post... :)

Thank you Titanium for responding.
It's a question of money. If I spend to much I will be relegated to watching "DISH". God Forbid.....
Wives and all that .....
I really don't understand all that you said in your message. Here is how I have been using the dish
until the Openbox failed. The receiver is an Openbox s9 hd pvr and I use the Uniden sq530 to
move the dish. So the question is will this setup work with a Linkbox 9000?
I have every intention of getting the Titanium positioner when the Uniden dies.
