Deleting Past PPV purchases.

This was somewhat addressed in another thread, but not totally answered...

Can I delete past PPV movies from my DTV purchases history? I don't really want "SEX TALK" sitting there for the next 5 years!

I have a Hughes SD-HBH. The owner's manual says nothing about this.

Im in the same boat with you. I have a samsung and I have those setting around in my past as well. No one can tell me how to delete them.... I unplugged my receiver and phone wire for 5 minutes and then reconnected it, but then you have to redo channels you may have programmed as favorites.

Unless things have been changed from when I had D* there is no way to 'delete' old PPV.
After x number (25) are on your list newer ones will start replacing the old ones.

just make sure you have the hardware protection plan.

so just order "SEX TALK 2 - 26", and then "SEX TALK" will dissapear off the list.

If its that important to you, lose your access card and order another from DTV for $20 and avoid the porn - pretty sure its stored on there.

You are correct, I was just going to tell him the same thing. If you don't want to pay the $20 just call D* and say your receiver is not getting any programming,

So hows does D* prevent people then from ordering a bunch of PPV and then not hooking up to the phone line and getting a new card. Seems that theft would be a prime problem with this setup?

That is why you have to return the old access card. They check them when they are received. I would venture to guess that by your second card in 6 months they would know . This is all the more reason for D* to rid themselves of access cards and use EPROM chips ... but alas, I am sure those can be hacked too. Too bad so many are interested in service theft, it is not like the product is not worth paying for.

1. PPV plays on all set top boxes, not just the IRD that you order it for.
2. No PPV history is recorded on your local STB

You'd get busted. If you continued to have a problem you'd be prompted to replace the IRD and not the card eventually by a CSR. Also, if the IRD never calls in, and you keep calling in asking for new cards, they'll can your remote controlled PPV ability.

In the end, the hassle isnt worth the effort for either party.

Is that still true? I read elsewhere that you now have to select what receiver you want the PPV purchase to go to.

Ya its still true. Via remote is the most impulsive way to order a PPV, but via the website is the best since its the only free way to get a PPV mirrored to all boxes.
