I live in Chicago and
thought they may go by region. The question is I got a
letter from direct Tv yesterday about an upgrade to the DVR
software to 6.2. It only has 3 new features as I can tell.
Has anybody else gotton this or already been upgraded?
Doesn't seem like a big deal if its only 3 new features. I
want them to add network support like the standalone Tivos,
so i can watch and record on my computer.

The only good thing about the 6.2 version is the increases in speed. Other than that the rest is a waist of hard drive space that could be used for useful features like network support. DirecTV needs to get on the ball and enable what the customers want.

One of the features that is not in the brochure but we're pretty sure it will have is LBA48 support. That will allow you to use larger hard drives. This is one of the big reasons I want the upgrade.

I think folders are immensely good... have you ever used a SA or r10 folders are excellent

I got the postcard a few weeks ago and my Hughes DVR40 has yet to be upgraded to 6.2. My R10 already has 6.1 so I am not expecting anything different than what I already have with an upgrade to 6.2.

Folders are great.

it's under the settings -> system information screen

(still haven't gotten my update yet :no )
