Two DVRs involved:
DVR R10, Series 2, software v.6.1
Phillips DSR708, Series 2, software v6.2
Vonage with an RTP300 Linksys router as a bridge to my Verizon router.

Using Phonex Wireless Jack for Modems.

The DVR R10 will connect to the DVR service anytime I ask it to.
The Phillips DRS708 has only connected once after days of trying. It always returns the "Failed To Connect" error. I pick up a receiver to listen in as it tries to connect. There is a dial tone, it dials out and starts talking but only once has it gotten a response and connected.
FWIW, the Phillips model is much closer to the main wireless jack.
I've switched out the jacks but it still won't connect.

Both DVRs use the same dial in settings and phone number.

Is this an issue with the 6.2 software of the Phillips model or does someone have a trick for me to try?

Thanks!

Found a Fix

Yes this sounds wierd as hell but it worked.
Found this suggestiong in the Directv forums.
this is kinda fun (as long as you have a sick sense of humor)... the steps are

DIRECTV Central > Messages & Setup > Settings >
Phone > Edit Phone Settings > Dial in Number: xxx-xxxx **Keep the number you already have.**
Dial prefix: 2122773895 (This is the TiVo number in New York - free call since VoIP has free long distance. **the dvr will call this number first**
Call waiting prefix: ,#034 (Note the comma before pound sign.) (buttons to press on remote "pause" "enter"(bottom right..NOT select) "034"
Tone/pulse: Tone
Phone avail detection: Off
Dial tone detection: Off
After the "test changes" are successful, make a test call.
If TiVo daily call still fails: **try about 9 more x's**
... if callback is unsuccessful, w/ wierd error message Try Changing the speed through Vonage menus (on your vonage dashboard on the vonage website) to 90 kbps

if error like "handshake failed" or "Failed in Negotiating" call dtv, have them change the serial number on this receiver to the "dvr service num" (usually 521-0000-xxxx-xxxx or can start w/ 381, 357, etc...)

good luck
