Travel to cottage northeast of Toronto - Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada to be exact.
    Google Maps

*Know if I would get my DirecTV Detroit local channels up there? How wide is the spot beam? Considering setting a dish up there and bringing my receiver up.

    Thanks!

It isn’t that wide. That may be too far for Buffalo also

The Detroit local use to cover a larger area, to Cleveland, Cincy, Indy and Detroit, but that was back in the day ... before Spot Beams ...

Do you have a map that shows the Detroit spot beam coverage area? Wondering if it covers the Toronto surrounding area

You should be able to get reception in Toronto. Weather could be a factor at times.

Any area above something like 48-50 dbw should have good signal if they have not dialed down the power on that transponder.

I know Detroit won’t hit Chicago. It works a bit further north than Tawas Mi and all the way to Cleveland.

The beam is pretty wide, but I doubt it hits north of Toronto

Toronto shows a signal strength of 53.5 dBW, plenty strong enough for consistent reception. Chicago is at 44.5 dBW, receivable but flaky most likely.

    Chicago is a definite no!

I had an office down there and we tried to use our showroom demo box from Detroit.

I finally had to update the address with directv to get Chicago
