DirecTV Inc. senior vice president of programming acquisitions Michael Thornton resigned Wednesday to take a job at another entertainment company, spokesman Bob Marsocci said.

It’s not clear yet if Thornton, who had been at the direct-broadcast satellite provider for seven years, will be replaced.

Thornton’s exit follows the resignation in March of another DirecTV veteran, executive VP of programming Stephanie Campbell.

Marsocci said DirecTV’s programming unit is now being run by executive VP Dan Fawcett.

Thornton’s new job is expected to be announced soon.

There is a lot of tension inside of D*, of late... It doesn't help, that a lot of the folks are watching a lot of very poor decisions being made either...

Of course, the DirecTVClassAction com site is drawing a lot of Dealers that have a beef with the business practices of D*, and so some of those folks that have left D* are seeking someone to listen... ;)

Seems to me that Rupert is looking for something else than business as usual.
