DirecTV Reception problems???

I came home from work today and everything was all jacked up. First off my Directv isn't receiving local or HD channels. (I get the CW but not ABC, NBC, CBS. I also get ESPNEWS but not ESPN and TNT) Here is the kicker though I am not getting any phone service either. I can use the internet but I get no dial tone.

Can somebody please tell me if these two problems are related? Am I unable to get some satellite service because my phone service is out or are these two separate issues and just happen to be a coincidence?

Agreed. Try this and then double check that your cords are connected to your sat. Tighten anything that can be tighten if possible.

Unplug the receiver from the phone jack, that will isolate the two systems. Do not tightnen any connector much past good finger tight. Maybe use a wrench to just nudge the connector tighter, but no more.
