Here at SatelliteGuys we never stop working for you (even at 1:15 in the morning) :D

I just received word from a trusted source that effective November 15th, DirecTV will be replacing their Music Choice Channels with the Music Channels from XM Satellite Radio.

Please consider this a rumor until we get a confirmation.

Remember you heard it here first at SatelliteGuys.US!

wow that is amazing.

I even remember last year at CES when you interviewed someone at DirecTV about Dish having Sirius and if DirecTV would ever do something similar with XM, how ironic :)

This would be awesome if it's true. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Let's also hope that we get the online exclusives as well. I wouldn't have to have the computer set up for the wife to listen to all day. Would be a lot easier on me at home provided they have the onlines too.

Thanks Scott!

A D* dealer on Claude's board just said he got this notice himself as well.
Assuming this is true - YUCK, YUCK, I will definately miss MC.
If I wanted DJ chit chat between songs, I'd still listen to FM radio.
This is exactly why I haven't taken the plung into either XM or Sirius.

Since our local Insight cable recently dumped DMX for MC & added the album art/titles to ALL 45 MC channels, (which D* USED to have on some stations) I may have to consider getting a digital box just for this... ;)

I wonder if they will be strictly music, or some of the 'other' channels (talk, old-time radio, etc.) will be included?

It's TRUE!

I have just received the complete XM on DirecTV lineup.

I need to clean it up a bit as it has my contracts information on it and I don't want them getting in trouble. :)

The XM Channels will air on Channels 801 - 879.

I don't care of the lineup though, as the channel numbers do not match the actual channel numbers like they do with Sirius on Dish Network. For example on Dish Network Sirius Channel 8 airs on Dish Network channel 6008.

On DirecTV XM Channel 8 airs on 805. It would have been much better if it was on 808.

Stay tuned, we will keep you informed. :)

Yeah but there's still time between now and november to fix that. That seems like a really minor fix to me (surely they could do that). Another thing that is also odd was that when dish added sirius it still kept its old music channels, I don't see how D* couldn't do the same (surely it doesn't take up that much bandwidth). Also the thing that sort of is ironic to me from xm's standpoint is had they done this to begin with, I migh have started out a xm customer instead. This was a huge selling point to me when I had 2 accounts (D* & E*) and was a main selling point for installing sirius in my car.

SO much for DJ free, commercial free music. A giant step backwards. Asinine.

I thought XM was commercial free, I know sirius is with the exception of talk radio and the news stations (which are just retransmit of tv programming).

This ROCKS!

Does XM have anything like Sirius' "Hair Nation?" Miss that from my E* days :)

I have XM and Dish Network with Sirius. Both are commercial free. As far as DJ's, they do have them, They are not on after every song. More like 15-20 minutes, and mostly what they talk about are what is playing on other channels, and only similar to channel being listened to.

I too have both, have XM for around a year in my car and Sirius on dish.....I am what you call a metal head so when XM got rid of Liquid metal I too got rid of XM....as for overall choices I like Sirius a little better, its more or less the same thing but I think its less repeating on Sirius...

XM is commercial free however they do play "classic" commercials for "atmosphere" and they do a hell of alot of promotion for the "xm family plan" both of which are missing from sirius
