Hello all! I am a first time poster here and hope to input and receive some vaulable info. I have a basic question that I hope you can help me with. I want to know what the major differences are between the Dish 1000, Dish 1000+ and the Dish 1000.2? I know about the size and LNB differences but not much more. Any help would be great. Thanks for having me!

1000: Larger than 500 and can see 3 Sat. 110, 119, 129
1000+: Same size as 1000, but can see 4 Sat. 110, 118.7, 119, 129 - 118.7 and 119 are in a special LNB assembly
1000.2: Same size as 1000 except the mouthing arm for the LNB's is slightly longer

The 1000.2 is actually slightly bigger then the 1000 and although it can see 110,119, and 129 it also has an input within its LNB that takes a single feed off a side dish such as 61.5 or 148. All three of its outputs can be used with a dual tuner receiver utilizing a DP separator and thus eliminating the need to run two separate RG6 cables to each receiver or to employ an additional switch.

Actually the 1000 is smaller/shorter than the 500,
the 1000+ has a different mount and bigger
and the 1000.2 is bigger and the LNBs are unified have a 4-3 switch in em.

What else is there?:D

Here's the Dish link for the Dish 500 & Dish 500+

Please note the only difference between a Dish 500+ and Dish 1000+ is one DP Dual LNBF (or one DP Single LNBF).

Dish Pan Sizes:

- - 300 = 18"
- - 500 = 22.5 H x 20.0 W
- - 500+ = 23.8 H x 30.9 W
- - 1000 = 18.0 H x 23.0 W
- 1000.2 = 20.7 H x 25.9 W - - (Thanks Ranger714)
-- 1000+ = 23.8 H x 30.9 W
121/105 = 24.0 H x 33.3 W

EXTRA INFO:

- Dish 1000: May have a DPP Twin and a DP Dual, so it does not need a switch. However, if it is using a DP Twin instead of the DPP Twin, then a switch will be needed to receive the feeds from all 3 locations, 119/110/129.

- Dish 1000+: Needs a DPP44 switch to receive the feeds from all 4 locations, 119/110/118.7/129. The mount also includes 2 struts/mounting arms/mounting legs/etc... to compensate for the increased wind resistance.

- Dish 1000.2: When using the 1000.2 LNBF cluster, it has a built in DPP switch that will except the 3 feeds - 119/110/129, but the LNBF cluster can accept another feed from a wing dish. The cluster can feed 3 receivers (dual or single).

Hi I am a First Time Poster here..or anywhere! I am a DNS Trainer, for a local LSC. I figured I could probably be a good resource here, as well as find out some stuff I probably don't know. Some more Info on he differences between the 1000, 1000+, and 1000.2. As already mentioned the difference between 1000, and 1000+ is orbital Locations. The biggest difference between the 1000, and 1000.2 is the DPP triple LBF. It picks up 119,110, and 129. Has the LNBF input, for a 4th Orbital (second dish) and has 3 outputs so you can have upt to 4 orbital locations sent to 3 dual tuner rcvrs. with out any additional switches. They are quit handy in the field.:D

Welcome, and you hit it on the nose.

Hopefully the slight larger pan on the 1000.2 will help some with 129 signals.

Do you know if Dish posted any links/info on specs for the Dish 1000.2?

I wonder if the input would read an FSS signal, 118 or 121, besides the obvious, 61.5 or 148.
You know, I bet it would. If I'm not mistaken, the DP LNBF and the SuperDish LNBF both convert the signals down and bandstacks them, and you can put any of those in any of the DP34 or DPP44 ports. So I suspect it's just looking for a DP (bandstacked) signal.:eureka

I'll try it if I get one.

Thanks to all for the great info. I have one VIP211 and am wired for a second in the future. I have a great un-obstructed view of the SW point. Will I be allright with the Dish 1000 for a good signal and all of the future HD channels coming our way? Thanks again guys!

Generally, as a rule of thumb, the height of the dish determines the gain (signal strength) and the width of the dish determines its ability to collect and discern several different close orbital positions.
Thus, in the original Dish 500, the concept was probably "as long as we have to make it wider, why not also make it a little taller and help the rain fade situation".
Since then, new satellites were launched with a little stronger transponders, and so the thought with the Dish 1000 was "since we need to make it even wider, we should bring it back to the original 18 inches, in order to keep the overall size down". However, they did not originally have a good grasp of the poor reception of 129 in many areas, hence the new taller 100.2 dish.
The new 100.2 LNB (it doesn't have a separate model number?) also seems to be desirable for long term capability, since it feeds 3 dual tuner receivers and accepts 4 satellite locations (allows you to use another dish for 61.5 or 148).

If you already have a dish 1000, is it beneficial to get the dish 1000+ or the dish 1000.2?

Yes if you need to pick up an additional satellite for hd locals or internationals (118 for 1000+) or need an alternative Dish Pro Plus switching method without adding a switch (benefits of 1000.2 covered in previous post) But if things are working fine for you now.. no.
