I'm a newbie...very new. I just purchased my 1st HD TV and have a newer HP PC with MS Media Center. I'd like to use my PC to record from the Dish 811 HD receiver. I don't plan to view other channels while recording. Is this do-able? I realize the signal going into the PC will not be HD. I'm just hoping to record my favorite college football games this fall.

I've done some searching on the board but haven't found much. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time!

Just plug in the cables as if you were attaching the 811 to a VCR.

You'll have to do everything (start, stop, etc.) manually unless the MC has it's own timers available.

Oh - did you find THIS thread?: [thread=70394]Recording with an 811 [/thread]

If you want to try it , there is the free EPG from Microsoft. If your PC and 811 are in the same room , try using the IR blaster that came with your PC to set up recordings.
Good Luck !

I have my 811 hooked up to an MCE box via S-video and it works just fine. Your MCE box should have an IR blaster that will change the channels on the 811 and you use the EPG to schedule your timers.
