Dish announces new HD markets

Uh, they bothered for D*, They have locals in HD but not E*
And actually if were lucky this thing will side skirt us more to the western Texas side in about 4 days. But only if were lucky...

So instead of taking Katrina's path, it takes Rita's path. Either way...sheesh...

God must hate casinos. Katrina took out the ones in MS and eastern LA. Rita took care of the ones in western LA.

My father's hometown is in Picayune. Regardless of what happens, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Personally, I wish they had given NOLA DMAs instead of Austin ones. I get my digital locals via set top antennas. I could almost care less.

Question for you guys , Why would one chose to live in a place thats on the Gulf of Mexico , BELOW sea level? Just wondering.

Thats not fair. Its the same reason people live in earthquake country. We like it here despite the shakes :D

Is OTA a possibility for you? I'd go that way. OTA is free of charge. I have OTA HD locals.....Not going to to bother with national HD programming yet.

Nothing unfair about that question...While fully support the right of Americans to live where they choose, I find it illogical to place one's self in harms way. In harms way knowing full well that there is not only a possibility of a diasaster but an inevitability.
If people are well nsured and responsible for their own choices, fine. If they decide to live in a hazardous area and don't taek care of business, those people get no sympathy from me.

Earthquakes could happen anywhere. And what good could possible come from living below sea level? Why not live on a house boat?
correct..there are major faults all over the us....
Near Memphis there is the New madrid fault. There is a a major fault beneath Charleston ,SC...Heck eveen New York City is on a fault ..although it is not very deep under the surface and not active.
Anyway. I am with you on this..If one wishes ot not be threatened by flooding the last place to reside is in an area that is below sea level....

I just moved 25 miles north from the north shore of New Orleans, Louisiana. My old home, which was my fathers for 25 years never ever flooded but Katrina flushed it with 6ft of muddy sludge which cost us $100k to re-due. Currently today it is under contract to sell to our parish (county) school board because it is commercial property so we almost lucked out, storm pending of course. Where I am typing this email from is exactly 100ft higher in elevation than my dads old home, it was 4ft above sea level and this home is 104ft, I feel a nose bleed coming on ;) But since the post I made this morning, I have made three trips there and back with my elderly mother and all of her wordily possessions so they aren't take away by the water. The interstate system is clogged out of town tonight @ 11pm going 40 mph and slower in some areas, Tomorrow they will open up contra-flow which means all interstate systems north and beyond will open up both sides in the same direction out of town, that is truly a sight to behold. If this thing hits us directly it will make Katrina look like a joy ride. So to answer the question about why would anyone live here, I am 47 and have lived here all my life until two months ago, we kinda live with it and luckily we seem to only have the really bad ones every 15-20 years but it seems sooner these days ...?? YES hurricanes suck just like wildfires, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, land slides, etc, etc, but it seems most areas have something to deal with one way or the other. At our new home I fear lighting and tornadoes, pretty much thats it.
And FWIW, those casinos will always come back, if you see the way the older crowd dumps their money into them, its crazy...
On a DBS note, I took my Dish 1000.2 down from the eaves where it was half arsed installed by the idiot sub from Dish as shown in my avatar and pole mounted it on the side of my house where it will be sheltered from some of the wind, works great, looks better, still a lil tweaking to do to improve those numbers, but they are already better than my installer's. :up
