Dish Network 501 PVR

I have a 501 PVR that I suspect the HD is going out. I was wondering if I obtain another "exact" HD and change it out ---- will the 501 do the necessary formatting, etc.? Also,, is this 501 a TIVO? Appreciate help.

Search in Yahoo groups....the people here do not like others to expalin how to exchange hard discs because they are afraid it will get too close to "hack talk"...


You might be just as well off to get the Dish warranty and RA the receiver!!!

You're better off letting Dish do a RA replacement on the unit. If you don't have DHPP get that then have them replace the receiver. Btw what is indicating to you that the hard drive is going out anyways?

if you have dhpp do ra replacement if not try above.
