Sorry to rehash this...but I can not find the thread I was looking for concerning dn lnbs. Using a superdish, which o.e. lnb is the proper one to use?
New to this hobby, and I've confused myself. Is it the one that has fss on it (adjustable) or the outer most lnb? I want to start out on 123w with a coolsat 7000 I picked up cheap. Am I even heading in the right direction? I'll also be motoring the dish a little later, but we'll save that for right now. I just want to find a bird to begin with.
Love these forums, guys!!!!

DishNetwork SuperDishes, originally used on 105° and 121° are the dishes with FSS LNBs.
They should have a sticker on the back side of the LNB, marked either "FSS" for linear, or...."DBS", I think for the circular bird.

The LNBs are the same, but the feedhorns look entirely different between the 105 and 121 dishes.
And.... I think there may even be two versions of each.
So, if you have some pictures of your LNBs, that'll help.

Here are some links of interest, but maybe not exactly the ones you seek:

You're looking for the FSS one for linear. It is most likely going to be the one which has center focus on the dish, dead center down the lnb arm. On my dish it had an oval opening under the white plastic cover (the cover was shared with a smaller round opening.)

Thanks for those quick answers and info. The lnb that has fss stacked (pin 122677 ... getting kind of obvious now) on the back "is" aligned with the arm, but sure is a weird looking rig. 3 ears on the plastic cover and it adjusts. The other 2....1 says dishpro digital lnbf (this is the center one- single co-ax)...the outer lnb also says dishpro digital lnbf. Both id'ed PN 151019 and 151019-NS respectivelly.
OK...if I'm using this adjustable fss, is the single ear straight up, or adjusted to around 300* position?
Anole...the links gave me a ton of info. And my coolsat 7000 also has the same issue as Iceberg as far as settings go. I'll figure out how to deal with that. 10750, I guess.
Also saw a reference to setting lnb type on the cs as dp--? Or set it as single?
I'd add a pic, but, duh...no idea how.
So many questions. Makes you wonder how I can find my way out out to the dish.
Don't think I'll get to do much today...more rain.
Thanks again to all.

It sounds like you have the 105 version of the SuperDish FSS LNB. Normally the two co-linear 'ears' should be vertical and the single ear at 7:30. The real method is to ensure the flats on the feed throat are vertically aligned. They will also work horizontally, but you don't want them at a 45 degree angle or you will convert this from a linear LNBF to a circular.

Thanks pendragon. Actually, it will only rotate about 45 degrees ccw looking from the dish toward the lnb. With the single ear up, the flats are then vertical, so that's where I'll leave it. I believe your right about it being 105, from what I was told by the "donor".
Do I need to eliminate the other 2 lnbs, leave them or???
Guy I used to work with gave me a pick up load of dishes, etc last year, but so far I've only went and got a couple of the complete superdishes. Wasn't sure any of the rest of it was worth hauling home. It's all dn stuff...

This is gonna get addictive.

Instead of motorizing why don't you mount a number of fss lnbs per dish or use multiple dishes or both. If you have the space and the dishes/lnbs are free then all you're investing in is cabling and switches.

I gave some thought to multiple dishes, but kind of limited on the space because of tree obstructions. I already have a motor, and thought it might be an "experience" to set it up.
Right now, I only have 2 of the fss lnbs, since I haven't been able to make the trip back for more stuff.
I've got a lot more questions, so I'll probably post them in a new thread, since I started this one out on the lnb question. And, by the way, are these other lnb's worth anything for this FTA endeavor?
Thanks to all

In the end, probably just as eBay fodder to generate revenue for more useful endeavors. I've bought 25+ SuperDish LNBF combos over the last few months to outfit 1-2 toroid dishes, but I haven't found much use for the DSS LNBFs of which I get two for every FSS. I'll probably eventually move my DN subscription reception to the toroid(s), but that will only use up a maximum of six LNBFs should I go for both the eastern and western arcs.

There have been threads here about lowering the LO, and thus the band received, for DSS LNBFs. I can't say whether the DN LNBFs are amenable to this hack.
